Congrats on your baby Benny. Im so sorry he is not eating. Im glad that you took him to the vet. Please keep trying to make sure he eats and drinks. Also keep giving him the nutrical. Try feeding him rice and chicken. If he still doesnt eat taking him back to the vet. Good luck. Please keep us posted. |

If your babe is eating from your finger and drinking water still, it's a very good sign. Rox stopped eating and drinking totally, and we had to force feed her. They get really stressed from the move and the new surroundings. Try to make it as calming as possible. That's all you can do, along with taking her to the vet when she has problems. I would also suggest giving Pedialyte-- it really makes a difference! |
Go to your Vet ASAP! When I got my dog, she ate fine. I fed her the same food the owners were feeding her. I don't know about the seizures, that's what I am concerned about. I heard that when you drop your dog they can get seizures. Check with your breeder to see if she has been drop. I hope all works out. My yorkie is 3 months old I got her 2 weeks ago. :aimeeyork |

If anyone EVER sees what looks like a seizure - INSTANT Nutri-Cal...and to the VET ASAP ! No thinking or questions - just drive... Many puppies are lost to seizures and it CAN be prevented by knowing the signs - Lethargy - shaking - their eyes rolling...Stumbling about...not waking up normally. There are more signs ...but the main signs are very obvious. We always need to watch the very young puppies for signs and use COMMON SENSE ....if you think your puppy is failing -or starting a seizure...act quickly - it can be fatal in a few minutes if untreated. |
Did the pup act like this ("depressed") when you went to visit..before you brought him home??? If not, he may just be a little stressed about the changes in his life....take some time and be calm and gentle...nothing too rought or stimulating.... But...if he did act a bit quiet / depressed while back with mom he needs to be chaecked closely. How big is he?? Does he have a 'molera'....a small "soft spot" on the top of his head????? Some small pups have this and it is no concern...but the 'molera' can indicate hydrocephalus and this condition can cause seizures..... DITTO the eating instructions from everyone...and really push him to drink.... and if he does not improve SIGNIFICANTLY some time soon you should return to the vet ...or if this vet doesn't seem concerned..find another vet. No matter what...seizures are serious and should be investigated !!! Good luck with your new puppy and welcome to yorkietalk!!! |

So Glad Benny is Better :aimeeyork When we brought home Mickey as a baby, he hardly moved, ate or drank on the first day. Day 2 was the beginning of wide open running, playing, eating, drinking...It took him one day to come out of his shell and figure out he was safe, loved, and the future would be a fun adventure :aimeeyork Best of luck with your baby :animal-sm |
My yorkie was just like that when he was a pup...He wouldn't eat, was very lethargic, and he had seizures...There's a long story to this, but I'll get to the point. He ended up getting better and he stopped having seizures (it was hard work though because he also had coccidia), so we thought he was all better. He was playing and hyper and everything a pup should be, but about 6 months later, we found out that he has a liver shunt...We found this out by having him bile acid tested (about $50). Those symptoms that you described often go hand in hand with either hypoglycemia which your vet said he doesn't have AND liver shunts. I know Benny seems healthy now, but if you want peace of mind, I would suggest getting this test done. |
