Oreo & Ginger need your prayers
 

If you all didn't read about a thread I posted a while ago.. about my sneaky kids Oreo & Ginger opening my gym bag..

Well I was at my house, gathering some stuff needed to take to my Boyfriends house (that's where Oreo, Ginger & Cloey stay while I'm at work during the day)... Well He got to his house before I did (we drove seperately).. And When he got there he called me telling me I needed to come there Right away.. because the either Oreo or Ginger had opened up his backpack and got to some caffeine pills (we had forgotten it was even in there since we used them back when we were in nursing school to stay up for tests)...

So of course I drove from my house to his as fast as i could.. although it was only about a ten minute drive.. When I got there, Ginger had been vomitting.. but when I saw her, she was SO wild and crazy.. She was like hyperventilating.. It's hard to describe, it was so heartbreaking seeing her this way.. She was soo wobbly walking :( and she'd just flop over..

We rushed to the Vet's office.. I brought what was left of whatever she chewed up.. (i don't know how many tablets where in there since i didn't know they were even in there).. When we got there, they induced vomiting (made her vomit).. and the result was Ginger had a few episodes of Seizures. I had them take a look at Oreo as well because he was acting so weird and had pooped all over himself.

I had to leave the both of them Overnight at the emergency vet (they got transferred).. And I know that Oreo is doing great, he just vomitted a lot so they gave him some fluids.. I know that Ginger isn't so well. She is at the ER vet hooked up on some IV fluids, She had to have some medicines to slow her heart rate down because it was way too fast. and because of that.. She's being monitored on an EKG (basically a heart monitor).. and she is being given activated Charcoal to absorb any of the left over caffiene pills she ingested. Also she was given medicine to slow down the vomitting.

My boyfriend and I are speechless... I knew that Ginger was smart, but sheesh! Cloey is lonely and knows something is wrong.. The whole car ride home, she kept crying and looking around for Oreo & Ginger.. Im just hoping Ginger will pull through and I can't wait to pick her up in the Morning.

I will forever have learned my lesson.. I will never leave anything.. anything.. anything on the bed even if it's zippered up.. I will have to be a lot more careful! I don't want my stupidity to hurt my babies :embarasse

I just ask for all of your Prayers in hopes that Ginger will pull through and that She can Come home tomorrow morning. I don't think I will sleep tonight...

Oh no!!! I'm so so soooo sorry to hear this! You poor thing! Try not to worry, they're under good care now and they'll be okay!

I hope this helps - my husband took those kind of pills 3 years ago and must have dropped one - and Chanel found it.....I rushed Chanel to her vet and they kept her all day after ingesting her with Charcoal and it turned out fine but it was one of the worst days I ever had I was so upset - Hope your babies has the SAME outcome here ! That is so scary !

Keep your chin up! You caught it right away and they recieved treatment immediately, everything will be fine. I am so sorry you are going through this though. Lily and I are sending puppy loves to all three of your babies.

I am going to go through everything I have, there is no telling what we have left in bags and other places around this house. I guess I need to pretend there is a human baby in the house, and make sure there is nothing around they could get into.

I really hope everything is OK! Keep us posted.

Update on Ginger
 

Thank you everyone for the support and prayers, it has really helped!

I couldn't sleep so well during the night, I kept calling the emergency vet where she was at wondering how she was doing.

Well when i had initially brought her to the vet, they said i caught it on time, but if i waited any longer it would have been to late :eek: .. Ginger swallowed about 1 gram of caffiene, which is a lot for a 5 pound dog.. considering only 200 mg is enough to keep a human my size awake...

But I called last night and I called just right now.. And Ginger is doing great.. the heart medication has slowed her heart rate down within normal limits and her heart rhythm is back to normal. She should be ready for pick up after 9.. which i'm not so happy about because i thought she'd be ready at around 7ish or the latest 8 so yesterday i called my boss if i could be there at 9..

so hmm ;) thank you everyone!

So glad that she is doing better. Sorry that you had to go through this. Now maybe tonite you can get some sleep. :)

OMG I'm glad they are both doing better. I will rush home and l make sure there is nothing dangerous within Tiny's reach. i hopr ginger has a fully recovery, that must have been the most horrible scare.

Oh my gosh, Deynaa!
I wasn't on last night so I just read this now. I can't believe it! Ginger, Oreo and Cloey are all little rats.. lol they sniff everything! I'm glad to hear that Ginger is better and Oreo is doing great! I could have sworn my heart stopped when I read your first post.
I'm sure they'll all be back to normal by tomorrow! I hope so.
