Going to the Doc tomorrow.. Aubrey is getting fixed tomorrow, and microchipped!!! :( :( :( I am soo sad, because he HAS to spend the night there, I tried to get him out of it:(. I also asked the vet if they had any animals die becuase I was worried about possibly loosing him, and they said no so that made me feel a little better. Dakota is going to miss her older brother. I made him a new bed, and I don't know what other suprises to get him.. any suggestions? |
That sounds not too fun. Maybe he needs a few new toys.;) Is his vet staffed 24 hours or will he be left alone overnight? |
Gosh, I diden't have to leave any of mine overnight. Take a blanket from home in with him, sleep with it tonight so that it has your smell on it. I know how you feel though, Malachi is getting neutered soon and i'm so scared about it. Even though I know the others were fine I still get all worked up about it. I say get him lots of new toys. Good luck :) |
how come she has to stay all night? |
He'll be fine, most vets have someone come in every couple of hours when they stay overnight. Buy him lots of toys, and some treats too. |

I don't think they stay over night, infact I don't know of any vets around that do... :( |

I am going to. I am going to let him take a toy with him, also. I got a new toy today, and a new bed... maybe some more toys will help.. haha. ;) |

Thats what they require. I know some vets don't make you stay over night, wish my vet was that way. |
I just don't understand why some vets still insist on keeping these little one's overnight. I'd much rather and I'm sure you would much rather bring him home where YOU can see after him. I would ask if anyone will be there overnight and if not perhaps you can insist as some others here have that you bring him home and just sign a release. I'm sure, though, that he'll be ok. It's the best thing to do for him and knowing that you are also protecting him from getting cancer in his old age makes it well worth it.:) |

Thats wonderful. I want to call them back and ask if I can bring him home! Will I get to meet him at the meet up??? I already bought my buddies gift:)!! |
To be honest, I would never let my dog stay at a vet office over night with no staffing after surgery. It is too risky. If there would be someone there, that's fine, but what if he has a problem from the surgery? Noone would know. |

Yeah I know. You think that I should call them, if I do what should I say? |

Atleast if he was at home, I would be able to watch him MUCH better than they would  |
I think it should go something like this. Can I bring my dog home tomorrow evening? No, you cannot. What if I sign a release? Nope, we don't allow it. Then I will have to get him neutered somewhere else. |
Mine came home after their surgery. I would ask the Vet if you can bring him home since no one is there at night anyway |
Ok, going to call. I will let you know how it goes. Hold On..lol. |
Yes the little rascal will be there he is my sister margrets boy,she also has a girl amberleigh she will be there also,i hope you can take your baby home the same day,i know that will give you peace of mind. |
I am on hold. No one will def. be there and I told them that I could bring him back in in the morning. They said they will be sleeping through out the whole night, and I said well if no one is there, then why can't he come home with me and I bring him in. Shes asking someone. |
UHHHHH VETS!!!! "It depends on how hes doing tomororw, depending on if I get to take him home" they need him there to sleep off the medicine, well he will be jsut fine a at home, he will actually be better, BECAUSE hes use to being there. So I think Im going to be able to bring him home. |
That is good because I wouldn't be letting him "sleep off" any medication there alone. What if he has a reaction and noone knows? They will also put a cone collar on him I am sure. I am not exactly sure how save those are. lol I'm being a pessimist today. |
I used to work at a vets office for six months,i could not handle it. At 5.00pm when we closed they turned all the lights off no one stayed, i just could not understand this and we could not get upset or show emotion when some lost a dog or had to put one to sleep. they also put babies to sleep for no reason if a owner requested it,i think that is so wrong, call a rescue group. it was such a reaaal cold place to work. im so glad im not there anymore. |

Eww, I bet. Don't think I could work there either. But I think they are going to let me take him home, if not I know this other vet that will let me take him home, I will def. know a answer in the morning. |
Well, first I made a typo earlier. It really bothers me when I do that. I put save but meant safe. Anyway. Ellie's vet has 24 hour staffing and all 24 hours there is a VET there, not just a tech. It is really nice. Of course they have about 9 doctors working there. |
