| Product comparison - flea/tick control I am faced with the decision of which product to use. Does anyone know the difference between Frontline, Frontline Plus, Advantage, Advantix, and Revolution? I have no idea which one to buy. Thanks!

| My yorkie is on Revolution and it works really well. It prevents fleas, ticks, etc. and it also prevents heartworm, so you don't have to give heartguard or any other heartworm preventive. It also costs about the same as the others you mentioned. We tried Advantage, but I wasn't very impressed. He still got fleas while he was on that. |

We use Advantix. It treats fleas, ticks, mosquitos (biggy for me), and if I remember correctly, ear mites. Price wise, they're generally the same in my area.

| My vet really recommends the revolution...Miko never liked taking his heartguard and this makes it easier since it's a topical application and it takes care of everything all in one. Our vet says he also likes frontline. It doesn't prevent heartworm, but it works great for everything else. |

| I have used Revolution on my boys since they were 3 months old. As staetd it prevents fleas, ticks, mites, mange, and Heartworm. Costs the same as Frontlineand Advantage but does much more. |

| I am going to have to look into Revolution. I just switched from Advantage to Frontline Plus today because Advantage does not state that it kills ticks and we go camping alot.(Leaving for Mississippi today) While in Alabama a couple of weeks ago Buddy had two ticks on his belly and they were far from being dead. |

| I asked the people at the front desk at my vet about Revolution a while back. Not Revolution exactly but soemthing that would take care of all that, I didn't know the name of it. Anyway they said that they didn't recommend that because I guess they didn't feel for certain that it really took care of heart worms. They recommended using frontline and heart guard. I'm not saying not to use Revolution. I'm acutally wondering if anyone else's vet doesn't recommended it. So many people on here use it so apparently many vets do recommend it, or don't have a problem with it and I'm just wondering because truth be told I would love to use it. We have four dogs and it would be so much easier to only have to worry about one thing for each of them instead of two not to mention if the price is about the same as frontline it would be cheaper not to have to use the heartguard.

| I just called my Vet and she recommended Frontline with Heartguard also. Buddy & Jake are already on Heartguard & were on using Advantage. I am waiting for my Sister-in-law to get back from her Vet to see what they recommend for her puppy. I think it would be so much easier also. |

| This is interesting as I have been wondering about this recently. Our girls are fine on Advantix (not Advantage) but I am going to have to change over to Frontline. May sound strange but both girls will shortly have their Pet Passport (Europe) and prior to entry back into UK we have to contact a vet in France or wherever to administer Frontline. It cuts the costs to buy it and take it with you to give to the vet LOL so I will probably be changing before we go to Spain later in the year! Ana xx |

| My vet recommends the Sentinel pill to take care of the heartworms and the fleas. The only problem is that it doesnt take care of the ticks and we have ticks up here big time! So now I think I am going to use the Interceptor pill to protect against the heatworms and then use the Frontline spray since that protects against fleas AND ticks.
