| Are these things ok for yorkies? I just got back from the grocery store, and as I was putting things away, I thought about whether the yorkies could eat some of the things I bought.. What do you guys think about: -canned salmon -squash (homegrown) -Imitation crab meat -vegan soy hot dogs -celery -wild rice -canned mushrooms (no salt) If I used them, I would incorporate them into the homemade dog food recipes I've been using, and of course would supplement. I thought about using celery or the crab as treats, but I wasn't sure if they could eat the crab meat? Does the celery need to be cooked? Thanks!

I don't know about the others, but canned salmon is fine to feed. some of mine like it and some don't. But it is good for them, it won't hurt them. Fresh fish is another story you have to take special precautions to avoid parasites and stuff.

| I think you can serve the celery without cooking it, but I'd be careful with the crabmeat.

I might just add though that the thing with veg is that some veggies will give one dog a bad reaction but another dog will thrive on them. Its best to give a new vegetable (i.e one they have never had before) in very small amounts so that if they do have a bad reaction to it, it is minor. My dogs only get 1-2 tablespoons of raw pureed veg a week though. | |

They've had little bits of most vegetables that come through my kitchen. When I'm chopping veggies for my own meals, Milli will come and sit at my feet and give little growls, because she wants some of whatever I'm preparing! So, between what I drop off the cutting board and what I toss her bites of, she's had lots of good stuff! And of course, if Milli's eating, then Emma has to try some too! They love lettuce, carrots, zucchini, cucumbers, peas, corn, broccoli, radishes, potatoes, sweet potato, and probably others I'm forgetting...for some reason I've been careful and just haven't given them celery or mushrooms yet, and I wanted to make sure those are ok. Anyone know about the soy hot dogs and the imitation crab? I would think the crab is ok since it's really just whitefish?

I think that was the broccoli-they did fine on tofu, and even beans don't make them stinky-it's got to be that darn broccoli!

| There isn't anything on that list except maybe the squash that I feed mine. Think all natural and in the basic food groups. Fresh salmon, fresh veggies, no hot dogs, vegan or otherwise and so on. If you want to feed real food to your babies I suggest buying the book Pet Food NATION by Joan Weiskopf M.S. Veterinary Clinical Nutritionist. She has wonderful recipes that are so easily made. |

| I know that celery and zucchini (squash) are perfectly fine to give them They either need to be cooked or pulverized or juiced. In fact, Miko and Emma get half a celery stalk or half a zucchini juiced every morning They loooove it!! It's very good for them too. They act as cleansers

I will stick to the squash and celery, and the wild rice is probably ok too since it's natural. I'll stay away from the processed stuff-the veggie dogs/crab and the canned veggies.

| They drink the juice straight, but you can always pour it over their food
