Iching!! Please help So I did a search for other threads but I cant really find what I am looking for. This has happened three times now in the past 3 weeks. Meeka will start acting funny and scratching her self all over! She makes little whimper noises and act miserable. Last night she was doing this again, I looked at the areas that she was scratching and they were a little red, nothing drastic, but I think that was just from scratching. I cant not find any fleas on her, I have never seen any when bathing her, and she is treated every month for them. She seems to have this happen about once a week lately. And it is always right when we are ready to go to bed, she just starts scratching frantically! I have to lay there and rub her head and ears for about twenty mins to calm her down and make her sleep. I keep trying to figure out if she is having a reaction to something but I cant figure it out. Any suggestions? Als is there any thing that I can put on her to help her stop being ichy? |
Itching I have a mini schnauzer that suferred from skin problems. I thought it was allergies to grass, but found a change of diet to help stop the problem. She had only been fed Rice and Chicken by Ians I switched her over to Fish meal and potatoe...for her the problem stopped. I also have a Giant Schnauzer and of course my Yorkie all eat the same food and have great coats and good health.Down side is their breath smells of fish...helps remind me to brush their choppers ;) Good luck. Beware of going the steriod route to stop this problem...nasty side effcts from these drugs....my 2 cents. Alan |
Maybe she's having allergies. Does her food have corn in it? |
I would try 1/4 teaspn. Benedryl every 6 hours no more than 3 times a day. I would call vet and ask if tis is okay first. I hope her itchies go away! |

Another thing that could happen is a mosquito bite. My penny and my foster had them and everytime we went to bed they started scratching them selves and as soon as they woke up just check them where they are scratching the most and go to your local pet store for anti ich cream |
I USED APPLE CIDER VINEGAR ON CHESTER AND IT SEEMED TO HELP, i DILUTED IN DOWN TO HALF AND HALF, i USE GRIZZLY SALMON OIL ON CHESTERS WET FOOD AND THAT HAS ALSO HELPED. i USE ALL SOAP WITH NO SCENT OR ANYTHING IN IT, SAME WITH THE BOUNCE. |

I have dealt with allergies for 2.5 years - have you done a food elimination diet? Have you done a blood allergy test for environmental allergies? Do u use flea protection? If the front half of dog is itchy most likely food allergy, back half flea allergy all over environmental allergy |

It could be a flea bite as flea protection only kills the cycle but the flea can still bite the dog and a flea reaction can last up to 3 weeks. |
itching My Elton had fleas last week! I bathed him and there are no sight of fleas at this time but he has bites and JUST ONE bite makes him crazy. I think he may be allergic to fleas?! His skin is warm and very pink because he has been itching constantly. I Does anyone know of something I can bathe him in or apply to him to make him more comfortable? Also a question about the Benadryl. I dont have any liquid but the tablets, does anyone know if I could put a little pinch of the tablet into his food? |

helps with inflammation of skin do you use frontline plus? Alot of people bath in www.touchofmink.com minksheen for flea protection |
thank you I will do all of what you suggested right now, he is scratching his little heart out, poor baby. I do not use Frontline ever since I had a cat that I used it on and the day after I put it on him the cat couldn't stand or do anything. I rushed him to the vet to find out he had a parasite and a seriously low red blood cell count. After begging the doctor for an hour he finally convinced me there was nothing he could do and I had to put my Petie down. Ever since that ordeal I have been scared to death of Frontline. Do you have success with it? I suppose I should get over my fear of the Frontline and use it. If anything happened to my Elton I would just die, Im sure you know.............. Do you use the Hemp oil instead of the Aloe Vera or additionally? |
