| Did she get her period? I think Abbie got her period today. She peed and there was some blood with it - or is that urine in her blood? I've never had a dog that had a period before, so I don't know what it is like. She is almost 7 months old. |

| If she is in heat her you know what will be swelled up and the blood would be on it...if the blood is in the urine - that's diff and she needs to put on meds. I hope that helps!!

| Wrenee4 Thanks for the reply, it does help. I called my vet and they said I have to watch her and see. If she is straining when she urinates, or only has drops of urine, I have to take her into the vet for a urine sample. Otherwise, she is probably going into heat. I'm going to keep a careful eye on her tonight to see. I sure hope there is nothing wrong with my little Abbie girl! Last edited by AbbieMom; 06-28-2007 at 01:45 PM. Reason: Oops! Missed a word |

| Hello all, I'm brand new to this forum and I'm looking for some help. My husband and I just returned from our honeymoon to discover that our Zoey has gone into the heat for the first time. How long does a heat cycle usually last for a yorkie and how often should I expect cycles to come around? Poor girl, she's wondering what she did wrong as she's now wearing a diaper in the house. Thanks for your help! Zoey's Mama

| So glad you were pro-active and she is on meds. I was amazed at the amount of blood when Sophie was in heat; she was just a tiny thing. After the first heat, she was spayed.
