Thank you for keeping Lilly in your prayers We just got home from the cardiologist. My vet hit it right on the nose when he dignosed her with possible PDA (he's a keeper). The doc at Penn University confirmed it is PDA. Her surgery is scheduled for next Tuesday. It was a very long day for us at the university and Lilly was so well behaved. They loved her and kept saying how she was the best patient because she was so good and cooperative.  for Lilly! Although she has this condition I'm so happy that we can fix it and she can live a normal life and be here as long as she wants to. Thanks to everyone praying for her. The doc said her heart looks good and there is no damage other than its a little enlarged and a little swelling on her left side but thats due to her condition and after her surgery it will go back to normal in size. Her heart rate and respiratory rate were normal and her lungs showed normal which is great. Normally with this condition they get fluid in their lungs. I'm so happy I'm crying!! Just to think back how I cried so much and cried myself to sleep because I thought there wasn't a chance. The doc said that the incision will be no bigger than 2 inches and it will be around her leg area. They will place the catheter and go to her heart and place the coil to close the open space thats causing the blood not to flow properly. Her recovery will be fast. As soon as her stitches are out she can run around with Mimi & Timmy!!! Also here is something funny....when the doc came in I explained to him what my vet said and then the doc asked well do you know what PDA is??? Since I done all my research I ran it down to him. He and the students were shocked....lol He was like oh yeah I can really tell you have been reading. I said of course....lol I even told him how I knew that every puppy has it and after a few days after birth it closes and in some cases it doesn't and thats when its PDA. I just want to say how happy I am to have her and give her a second chance because the doc confirmed that if it was left untreated she would start heart failure and pass. Its going to cost us $$$$$ but she is so well worth it! I can keep typing and typing......lol there is so much more to say. God bless you all!! Thank you!! Gloria |
I am so HAPPY to hear all things will go well ... YAY!!!! |
Isn't that the bestest news:D Still praying for all of you. Patty |
I'm so happy to hear this!!!!!:) |
Thank you all!!! I'm just sooo happppppyyyyyy!!! |
WOO-HOO! I just hate it when our babies are sick. So glad you have a good vet and the means to get her back to normal. We'll all be praying for the vet (yes, he needs it too!) and for Lilly's quick recovery. |
I'm so happy for both of you! You must be so relieved to know it's fixable and she's going to be FINE!!!! Thanks so much for letting us know....I'll keep her in my prayers for next Tuesday. How long does she have to stay? |
Now that's a "Praise report"! |

The doc said that if everything goes well and she is up from anethesia she can come home the same night, if not she will need to stay one night. They have 24 hr care but I'll be sad to leave her there. |
Oh, what wonderful news - I'm so very happy for you!!! Hokule'a goes in next month to see how her heart murmur is . . . |
Thats wonderful !!! I can feel your excitement. Good luck to Lilly. |
That is good news...I will be thinking about and praying for Lilly come Tuesday. She will have her surgery and be back home to you before you know it...as good...if not better then new. |

How is Hokule? You know your baby never leaves my mind. You were the first person on here I contacted after finding out Lilly had a murmur. Thanks for your support and your kind words. Have you talked to the doc about possible PDA? Lilly's murmur is a grade 5/6. Please know that Hokule is in my thoughts and prayers. |
oh i'm so happy the pda hasn't caused any other problem. Good luck with her surgery next tuesday. Honestly if she were my dog i would let her stay overnight so she can be monitored. This is a serious surgery and i would want her to stay on fluids overnight and IV medication. Plus she'll be watched round the clock for any possible complications. |

Thank you all!! Yesss I'm so excited!! Okay I don't want to make anyone cry but I just can't wait to bring her home and place my hands against her chest and feel a normal heartbeat. Thats what I've been praying for all along. I avoid touching her little chest now because I can feel her heart just pounding like its going to break through her skin. I'm going to try my hardest to get on here Tuesday night but if I don't that means I'm home with her and we're just laying on my bed with my hands on her chest:) |
We will totally understand. Just keep us updated when you can. For the love of Lilly...I pray. |
We'll be praying for little Lilly! So glad that something can be done! |
My prayers and well wishes go out to you and Lily. I hope her surgery goes great and she will bounce back and have a good strong healthy heart for many years to come. |
Lilly sends everyone thank yous as she is kissing the monitor right now. |
Aww I'm so glad she's going to be ok. I've been following your story and praying for you both. This is fantabulous news! Congratulations and enjoy every single heartbeat :D |
I am so relieved that they can fix the issue. It is very obvious how much you adore that little girl. What a great yorkie mommy you are. You, your family and little Lilly are in our prayers. (I'm still tearing up over that whole touching her heart story. You have definitely touched my heart.) |
I am so glad to hear that she has something that is treatable and that she might come home the same day! That sure is great news! I will continue praying for both of you. |
Sending more prayers for your baby:hands: :hands: :hands: |
That is wonderful news!! I am so happy for you and can tell in your wording you are just soooooo relieved! Its very stressful having a sick baby and I know they sense the stress....No way to avoid either, but now you sound more relaxed and I am sure Lilly is too! Please keep us posted and give Lilly a few extra kisses from Diggy and Bella. |
