Is it healthier to have wood chips down in your yard instead of grass? Tina |
My yorkie tries to eat both, if that is your question. I would check on chemicals, etc.. in the wood chips and/or the fertilizer, weed killers, etc. in grass. |
ii DONT KNOW TEDE EATS IT ALL :2popkorn: I was hoping to get tede to start eating his new kibble. H'es:( off chicken and rice. So what do you think he is eating. grass and wood chips from the yard. and paper from the bathroom. carpet if he can get a good grip on it. other then that. PLEASE let me know if you hear of a good kibble to cover your lawn. |

u r all making me laugh:yelrotflm :yelrotflm :lol tears :lol tears :yelrotflm :bravo: I have just looked at a house I am thinking of buyin but the yard is covered with wood chips instead of grass. The owner said wood chips are healther than grass for her childern and dog . I am wondering if wood chips are a deterint to ticks as this house is in the counrty and not the city...yadda yadda yadda:thumbs up :lol tears Tina:D |
Personally I think grass would be healthier. We had a dog that played with sticks -- he was all the time getting splinters stuck between his teeth and in his gums. I would be afraid of chemicals in the wood chips as well. Not only that I would think that picking up poo would be a lot harder from chips than from grass. |
Well by healthier, I suppose you don't have to continue to put chemicals on it to make it grow, but I don't think I would like it. Tink loves to eat wood chips and then she gets sick. DUH! You''d think she'd figure out the corelation but NOOO not Miss "I Can Do Whatever I Want"! I'm always grabbing them away from her. Wish we had rocks in the yard instead, but it's a complex and I don't get a vote. :( Poor me, Sniff! |

I guess I have my week set out for me....now I have to see what wood chips do for a yard because I am begining to think that maybe there is something wrong with the soil, like radon or something. I think if wood chips were healthier then more people would have them. Thanks and if anyone comes up with anything else I would be interested in hearing. Tina;) |
I just did a search on the internet.......wood chips are widely used in playgrounds which is safer for kids. Now I have to see how safe it is for doggies. This home owner had a dog but not a little Yorkie sooooo more research:) Tina |
I know that you are making the best decision for your entire family. You are to be commended for being so diligent. |

thanks guys:D i am thinking the wood chips wood have to go......mulch is made with wood chips (i don't know which wood type) but if mulch attracts ticks then i can only assume the wood chips would too. now how to get rid of and replace:eek: yes i don't want to move into to a new situation to find my little ones will be exposed to additional danger. this is supposed to be an improved living condition for them and me. we live in an apt now and i really want them to have a yard:cheer: . that in itelf will open them up to new instances of caution. but yes i am being as careful as i can. thanks for mentioning;) tina |
