one of her feet is RED I got home from work today and I realize dad my yorkie was limpin. I checked it out and see that her feet was all red. I touched it and she started yellin. Anyone ever experiecence this? Should I take her to the vet or wait it out and see if it'll go away? She doesnt limp so bad maybe little here and there, she still run around. Couldnt it be sun burn? Any info would be great. Thanks, Jimmy |
I would be worried about an infection. I think a trip to the vet is in order. |
Her feet should not be red, unless she walked in paint. Get her to a vet, don't hesitate. |
I agree....a Vet visit is the best thing! Good Luck! |
You asked if it could be sunburn, was she outside all day? Look at her paw (if she will let you) and see if she has cut it on something or if there might be something still in there. |
Is it just one paw? If so I would doubt sunburn... |
She may have gotten a bee sting. Their feet do swell and get red and also a bit feverish. Spider bits have the same affect. I'd take her to the Vet. and have it looked at because there is always the possibility she's allergic to the bee or spider venom and if so it can be bad on the heart, lungs or nervous system. Poor little baby. I do hope she will be ok. |
I did a quick search on that and the people talking about their pets having red paws said the vets said it was from being allergic to grass, or from licking the paws excessively or there was an ear problem related to it. I would get her in to see what your vet says and please let us know. |
Could be allergies, mange, bite, sting. Has she been licking, licking, licking, or was it a fast onset? Is it the top of her foot or inbetween her pads? How old is she? |

I put some vaseline on the red spot about 10 mins ago, and noticed that she stopped limpin a little bit. She'll stay in my room today so i can look after her more carefully and keep you guys updated. Thanks again, you guys are awesome!!! |
UPDATE!! not so good news Well over this weekend, lisa was perfectly fine. It looks like her paw was healing. So last night, i let her sleep outside since it gets pretty hot here in Cali. When i woke up this morning, i went outside to check up on her and all i saw was bloody prints of lisa's paw all over my white porch. It looks like she might has reopened the cut on her paw :( . I wash her feet w/ antibiotic soap and put some antibiotic ointment on the red spot before i left for work. I left her inside the house but i know she will run around the backyard again. I want to know if there anyplace where i can buy a small shoe or some kind of feet protection for yorkie so i can put it on her till she gets better. |
i would just offer care with the footies/booties. if she wants to get to her paw badly enough she might eat it off. hope she does better soon. |
