Coconut Oil Does anyone feed Virgin Organic Coconut Oil? I just bought some yesterday and I gave them a tiny taste and the love it! I have read about it online (it sounds wonderful) and I was wondering if others feed it too  |
I believe Kathryn uses it on Chynna:confused: But I think she put it on her skin.. what is it supposed to do? |
I have never heard of givng it. Is it good for the coat? |
Please tell! I would love to know more about it. |
I haven't tried it on Miko or Emma yet, but it's supposed to be very good for their overall health...Coat, ligaments, itchiness due to allergies, ear problems, etc. It's also supposed to reduce the risks of cancer, helps the heart, and it has antibacterial and antiviral agents.. |
But Virgin coconut oil is the one that is supposed to be best.. |

Coconut Oil - Pure, Organic, Unrefined, Virgin - 1 lb I am starting TJ and Roxy on 1/4 teaspoon daily. I have measured the 1/4 tps and put each serving into an ice cube tray and into the freezer so it can harden, and then just feed it. I have already given them a taste of some shavings and they love it! |
How awesome, TLC!! Let me know how it works out for you guys. From what I have read, I'd like to incorporate it into my diet as well :) |
Have you read anything about whether or not it's safe for the liver? I think it should be fine, but I'm so careful about what I give Miko as he has a compromised liver. |

Thanks! From what I've read, it's supposed to be okay, but I'm always cautious. |
I use it for myself! I use it instead of shortning in corn bread---delish........also use it in the tubby for baths and also in smoothies. Never thought about it for Milo.hmmmmmm |
Hmmmm....I have some too that I use...it is good for cooking and for using on our skin/hair, etc. I wouldn't see why it wouldn't be good for our little ones. I will have to ask the vet to see. |
Yep, if you do a google search "coconut oil for dogs" you will see lots of websites with a ton of info on them. |
Where to buy VIRGIN COCONUT OIL Hello! I was wondering if I have to go to a special "health store" to get virgin coconut oil or would they have it at let's say Safeway or Albertsons? Please let me know. I would really love to start my yorkie Dunks :aimeeyork on it, since he starts to smell  after a week of giving him a bath and I have tried all of the shampoos out there! So, I would love to see if the coconut oil will work for him. Thank you! |

I think you best bet would be a vitamin store or online. Remember to try and get Organic, Unrefined, Virgin Coconut Oil ;) |
I'm pretty sure they sell it at supermarkets...If not, you can always to go to a health food store, and surely, they will have it there. |
I've never looked for it at grocery stores, but they may have it..since most of the stores are getting more of the "all natural, organic" items in. I bought mine at our local health food market/store. |
Here is a good link: I happen to really like this guy... http://www.mercola.com/products/coconut_oil.htm |
I actually just bought a gallon from this place! I want my whole family to use it! This place seems really good - FREE GROUND SHIPPING - until 5/13 http://www.tropicaltraditions.com/ |

I put a 1/4 tsp in each of the slots in the ice tray and I just give him a coconut ice cube every morning before I go to work. After that ice tray is done, I'm going to make his dose to 1/2 tsp and so on.. I'm thinking of using it as well. =) |
I want to try it too so I've looked on the website of my nearest health store and they have this... is it the same? Looks like a tub of body lotion to me... http://www.hollandandbarrett.com/pag...&np=1&cpid=733    |

That is probably your best bet, go and ask them about it. Good Luck! I really think this is going to be a great product! |

Above 76 degrees it is a liquid form, otherwise it is a white solid form. When you get it, I'm sure it will be solid. I was told to put the bottle in a bowl of warm water until it starts to turn into a liquid, then pour out what you need. Start with 1/4 teaspoon into each ice cube spot. Place the tray into the fride until it turns to solid again. I keep the tray in the fridge and just pop one out every day. Once I've gone through this 1/4 tps tray, I will make 1/2 tps. ones. I will probably stay at the 1/2 tps mark. It says to feed 1 tps per 10 lb dog. - Roxy is 5lbs and TJ is 6.5 lbs, so I think 1/2 should be good enough. I hope that helps? |

Think that's my last question! lol |
I don't mind questions at all. No water - Just the Coconut Oil. P.S. Dried Cranberries and Dried Blueberries are supposed to be EXCELLENT as well! I have been feeding 4 of each to Roxy and TJ daily now for a week ;) |
