Well i was wandering gracie doesnt get her flea medicine again till next week is it okay to give it now??? I really dont know what to do anymore! |
Don't panic :) they're only fleas - it could be worse! (my bf's sister got bed bugs in her house  ) In my experience, it's sort of a battle. Once those little buggers show up, it's likely going to take more than one application to get rid of them. We had a bought of flea here in Animal Kingdom that lasted about 6 weeks. With a huge house that 2 cats & one yorkie have free reign over, and sleep where ever & when ever they see fit, it was quite the task getting rid of them. A vet-tech friend of ours gave us flea pills - about 5 minutes after Raja ate one he would start going crazy because the fleas were fighting for their life. They all die and fall off. (You can give the oral meds more often than the topical meds.) We also armed ourselves with many bottles (of spray) & canisters (of powder) of *natural* flea killer that would not harm our furkids. Powdered the "kids" and sprayed everything they lay on or come in contact with. It took a while but it was a glorious victory =) |
can anyone else help? |
I'm sure it depends on what kind of medicine you give her. |
I try not to do that,I don't know if it is safe or not. Maybe give her a bath is dawn dish liquid until the next dosage. I'm like you I find a flea and I freak! |
i gave her a bath with flea shampoo yesterday and i just ordered some more flea meds and heartworm from petmeds so next week when it comes in i'll give her it! till then the flea comb has become our best friend lol! |

Yes, bed bugs exist! It's disgusting...I saw it on the news one day, and it was so gross. Make sure you wash your sheets and bedding regularly. |

Don't despair though, they usually don't pop up out of no where. Her in-laws got the bed bugs from a carpet they brought back from India. She stayed with them a while and that's how she brought the bugs to her apartment. |
I don't see how dish soap  would do any good... but with natural flea shampoos you can bathe them more often than the regular kinds. If you're wanting to take immediate action the flea comb is the way to go - just be sure to kill every flea you catch in the comb by pinching with with your nail. The powder we keep around just in case is NaturVet Herbal Flea Powder (http://naturvet.com/) and it can be applied as often as needed. If you think Gracie got it from your jack russel's bed you should be treating the bed & that dog, too. Good luck =) |
The vet prescribed Sentinel Flavor Tabs once a month which protects against fleas, heartworms and 3 other parasites:eek: |
Boy do I feel stupid :( #*#** I did not know there was a pill a dog could take for fleas???? I only use Frontline it seems to work just fine Are the pills cheaper??? |

I would pay for them though - they really work well! The topical meds seem to be hit or miss. (my boy got fleas even with the oily flea repellent on his coat) |
