(available only in veterinary clinics) Dry Dog Food - Canine Early Cardiac EC 22? - Canine Skin Support SS21? There's the list from the royal canin site. How do we tell which bags those are when the bags are titled "Adult 25" or whatever... My parents feed their dog Royal Canin and I'm supposed to figure out if that is one of the ones on the list. Thanks! |
Bumping this up because I'm worried, as we all are.... I wanted to know if any of you see the change in the Yorkshire 28 ingredients that I posted. Yorkshire 28 so far has not been recalled but if you read my earlier post on this string it seems they have changed some ingredients suddenly. |

Just curious.. Does anyone know exactly how the rice protein is listed on the bags? I am sure it is something other than rice protein. I just don't know what it is. |
Great. ALL 3 of mine have been eating the Royal Canin Sensible choice Natural blend the bag does not include Rice protein. Does anyone know if this includes the Natural Blend I am freaking out. |
Dog food manufacturers have up to 3 months after adding a new ingredient to list it on their bags. Scary, huh? |

I can't seem to get an answer so I will have to keep looking. If I find the answer I will let you know. |
i use RC mini puppy 33 this is still safe right? |
I feel like screaming right now! I don't have my yorkie on Royal Canin but I was about to switch him to that yesterday! I did not buy it only because it was a 17.5 lb bag. IT was not one of the ones listed but it is a prescription diet. I don't know what else to do. I just feel like I'm playing "Russian Rullet" Cookie is on Hill's dry food /low protein for now until I can get him the Royal Canin Hepatic LS. Now I don't know what the he#!! to do . As I read the title of this thread I had a lump in my throat.I went to a CNN site and I seen a picture of a yorkie named Pebbles that died after eating some of the tainted food,I wanted to cry. I wondered how so many different pet food companies could be having the same problem. It seems that they already made a connection from a Chinese distributor that sells the wheat gluten to many pet food companies. I still don't feel satisfied with this update. Scientists are baffled because they say the only way these pets could die so suddenly would have to be VERY HIGH levels of that Melamine and the food does not contain high enough levels. It has to be something else also. I have a new addition to our furbabies and I'm scared for him. Genie,Cookie ,Lola & Angel |

I just feel like bawling right now...Miko is on RC Hepatic LS 14 and it is not on the recall list, but it is way too close for comfort. :( I"ve had it with pet food companies... |
Yorkieluv, Iwas thinking the same thing already. I didnt even get to buy the RC Hepatic LS only because they only carried the large bags. I don't feel any safer because Hill's also has some foods listed. I temporarily put Cookie on Hill's adult food with low protein because it was the only option of low protein available where I am.They are looking for wheat gluten, rice protein(rice gluten) I don't see that on this bag of Hills but there is Corn Gluten in it. Reports from Africa say that their Corn Gluten is contaminated but non found in the US so far. I don't feel safe anymore. This is sooooo wrong what is happening. Everything is pointing to deliberate contamination. From the scientists reports that I've read they strongly feel this was deliberate because when the food was tested it makes it appear that is more rich in in certain nutrients But it's NOT! They could make more money like this but at what price? This really sucks Genie |
RC's Yorkshire 28 and Mini Puppy 33 are not on the recall list. Here is a link to the products that haven't been recalled. http://www.royalcanin.us/safelist.html It looks like RC is doing the recall as a preventative. They haven't seen any dogs/cats get sick from their products, yet. At least they're not waiting for animals to die before recalling the food!! |
? Help Me To Know On This Recall I went to the Royal Canin site but I can't get anything on the recalls. Could someone pm me or let me know which one it is. Baby Blessing and Dollie are both on Royal Canin dry foods. I just put Dollie onto the Royal Canin when we got her this week, MINI PUPPY 33 and Blessing is on the Royal Canin Mini Yorkshire. What in the world is going on with all this recall of the foods for our precious ones, something is terribly terribly wrong here, pray that we will know soon was it behind this. It is very very scarey. I have already started looking in to putting ours on human food. Thanks for anyone to help me know on this. Patti and Jack |

Here's the link to Royal Canin for recall information...This is the safe list: http://www.royalcanin.us/safelist.html |
I have done tons of pet food research to see what at this point is the safest alternative for those of us who cant always home cook at all times...Here's what I found to be my best choices at this point and why.... I am putting all my dogs on Eukanuba Dog Food due to the fact that the only recall that Eukanuba and Iams has had is a small amount of wet food only...This company doesnt put wheat gluten or rice protein in any of their dry dog foods. So far this seems to be the only one I have found to guarantee they dont use either of these recalled ingredients.. Best is home cooking of course, but of us who cant Im switching to Eukanuba who also makes Iams. Just wanted to share my findings!! |

Thanks for this information. Dollie was on Iams, I changed to the RC thinking it was better :( putting her back temporary on the Iams till I can figure out what to fix for them in home cooked foods. |
I'm not one to preach, and I'm not sure if this matters to you all or not, but Iams/Eukanuba (both owned by Proctor & Gamble) supports and engages in animal testing. http://www.uncaged.co.uk/iams.htm http://www.iamscruelty.com/ (sponsored by PETA) http://www.iamskills.com/ http://www.bdnhumanesociety.com/iamscruelty.htm If you'd like to see list of companies that state they do not test on animals, click HERE. |
the phone # on royal canin webiste, uh, they WILL answer it and did. Was 6pm here. The Yorkshire Terrier 28, was Not recalled. Just the ones on the website. They are not the yorkshire terrier ones. Guy told me that on the phone. And as soon as I saw that on the news, I dropped everything, looked at the bag, hit mute on tv, and got on the phone!! You should know by the bag if its one of yours or not, but from what I understood, none of the "yorkshire terrier" foods were affected. I feed adult and puppy. I never did find the expiration date on my bag. Thank God, for some dumb reason, I kept the bag, as I usually put it in a large bin with a tight cover, and chunk the bag. I will never throw away another dog food bag. And website also says they will not be getting any other ingredent from China, anymore. Ok, now that I bout fell out with heat attack, think I'll calm down. Ok, now that my heart attack is over, think I'll go take a bath. |
I'm sorry but I just don't trust any food with grain in it. I went to my favorite specialty pet store today in search of an alternative for my 4 cats. I had just switched them to Royal Canin after the Natural Balance was recalled. I got the lecture it was only the Sensible choice and prescription pet foods that were affected. I told them I cannot trust any food with grain in it. The gal politely agreed. So I will keep this unopened bag of Royal Canin until I hear that testing finds it to be safe. This is so scary. I half wonder if it is not terrorism. Go after the pet food, then the people food! I vote to stop buying anything food wise not grown and manufactured in the USA, whether it is pet food or people food. |
royala canin I just talked to RC's hotline......the mini puppy 33 has not been recalled and the Yorkshire Terrier 28 is safe...... according to them as well. I have been feeding them chicken breast but our vet said to supplement it with dog food to get a balance of nutrients. This is a nightmare. I am going to PetSmart tomorrow to see what is still on the shelves.\ EEK!!!!! Max and Maggie's MOM |

I wasnt aware of this. Thx for the information, I'm going to do a much more detailed research as I dont support animal testing and was not aware of this. |
omg so what food IS safe? This is so ridiculous and why are all these companies hiding out why don't the just come out and say that the food maybe contaminated ...no they wait till someone reports a sick pet. |
According to the website, no puppies got sick or died from Royal Canin food but they decided to pull it voluntarily just to be safe. I hope that is true. I feed my pup Mini Puppy 33 which is not on the list. Should I still be scared and switch foods? I am due to buy more food anyway but I don't know whether or not to continue to by from RC. My dog really likes the food and I've been really happy with it up until this point. |
I'm freaked out...this happened while I was on vacation and Winnie was in the kennel eating the food that I brought which of course is on the recall list!!! Since I've been back I switched her to canidae but I'm still worried about her. I know I'm being paranoid, but I might take her to the vet even though she seems fine. |
Oh NO :( Not again :( I am saying a little prayer for everyone who feeds this...I hope that all of your babies will be alright :( This whole recall thing is just AWFUL :( |
