Iams products including eukanuba I was surprised to see how many of you feed Iams products and wondered if you were aware of their history of animal testing ? Details can be found at Peta website ( very graphic pictures) or this site explains it in a more palatable fashion. |
I changed a long time ago after hearing about this and the good thing is there ARE people campaigning all the time against this kind of testing - So as hard as it is to read about - we have to have faith that one day things will change. |
I learned about the abuse from YT, and we've stopped buying IAMS. Lexy is on Royal Canine, but I thinks its too rich for her. Her stools are a little runny if I don't mix in the Iams we had before I knew about the abuse. I wonder what I should put her on after I run out of the Iams? Any suggestions? I won't buy any product that comes from inhumane treatment of dogs! It seems to me that a better test situation for dog food would be to test it on active dogs anyway! I wonder why they don't? I wouldn't think there would be a scientific reason not to. I'm sure the almighty dollar has something to do with it! |
Sorry can't help - we use wafcol and pero but I don't know if they are available in USA. |
There's also this link as well Iams Cruelty |
i use pro plan puppies small breed for pixie and she loves it. My vet recommended it for her. |

On this link it also lists many other brands to boycott for the very same reason, including one of the most popular ones discussed on this forum. I wonder what the alternative is.. |
Omg i though eukanuba was a good brand |
I don't want to be controversial (that is fast becoming my disclaimer) but I am a member of the IAMScrulety campaign and also happen to have a very strong corporate relationship with Procter & Gamble (they own IAMS/Eukanuba) and spoke to them about this today over the phone. For work I talk to them a lot (they are corporate guests in the classes I teach) and the person I was talking to brought up the issue and asked my thoughts. So I told him in the most professional way possible and he said he was going to send me some information on the changes they were thinking of making to correct the "issue"! I'll keep you informed if and when I hear anything. |
I never heard that before the only kind of stuff my older dog rusty will eat is Iams. well he used to eat Alpo but that gave him gas. lol:lol tears :lol tears  :eyetearss |
I just recently became aware of the abuse, but had no choice but to buy another small bag since this is what the breeder was feeling Bunny before she came home and you can't just switch foods bc it will upset their stomachs, but I am going to switch to the Natural Balance. Another member told me about it and it sounds wonderful! They do no animal testing and they also provide food for zoo animals which I am sure are not going to feed rare and extremely expensive animals garbage. And I like that they are organic! If I eat organic, then my babies should eat as well as I do! http://www.naturalbalanceinc.com/ |
I think for many people whatever they now do will be too little too late - if they really cannot see that it is cruel to test in this way then I wouldn't do business with them even if they stopped now. It is only public pressure stopping them. |

I agree! It's just sad that this happens at all! |
Thanks for the info. I was a Iams fan for a long time, but quit feeding it last year. Now, after researching the abuse, I would never buy from them again. |
Oh My Gosh! I CANNOT believe that these people think this is ok. They are supposed to be helping make animals lives better, but they are hurting and killing animals in the process! What's wrong with them? And Iams...I would have never guessed! Needless to say, no more Eukanuba or Savory sauce for my dogs! I am switching brands. |
