Sammy homemade food I think I might have gotten this recipe on this site but here it is again. I boil boneless chicken breast (one or two) make a cup of rice, boil some carrots. One it is all cool I put it in the food processor and chop it. When I serve it to him I sometime but chicken broth in it or sprinkle with grated cheese. I usually make enough for a week or two. I freeze enough for the following week in a small container. He seems to like it but wants me to hand feed him. We have a older boxer who eats quite a bit of dry food and my Sammy always wants to eat his food (which I know does not have the nutrition he needs)I am not sure what to do about this. But anyway this recipe is very easy to make and has the nutrition I believe Sammy needs.:animal-pa |

I went to see my vet again yesterday and i discussed with her again diet for my yorkie, when i told her i was cooking him chicken, rice and veg (carrots/broccoli/potato) daily she got very mad and said i should only feed him commercial dog food! and stick to it..ONLY give rice and chicken when the dog had been ill ...I dont no what to think?? all's i know is that my Harvey LOVES what i cook for him! its the only time he will actually sit and eat all his dinner!! I recently bought him royal canin for yorkies he isnt interested in that either,my vet just said STARVE him ! and he we eat eventually!..but i cant bare too :( Am i a bad owner? like she makes me feel ?:( |
Chicken rice and vegetables isnt nutritionally balanced for a dog without supplimentation. You need to go through an nutritionalist so they can give you a recipe that is balanced that is why your vet is telling you to stick with dog food |
Raw Food Recipes Does anyone have any raw food recipes? |
Raw Food Recipes I am looking for raw food recipes. I have notiuced that Herschel shows intense interest in the whole chicken I am prepping to cook and have read many sites that talk about the benefit of feeding a raw food diet. I already give Herschel treats of cottage cheese, chicken, fat from rib eye steaks, and egg and cheese omelette. |

Oh man. I just wrote a big long post about the food I make for my two 8 year old, healthy tinyterroriers and although I had logged in, the board made me log in again when I tried to post it. Anyway, I'm too annoyed to do it all again, so here's the short of it: Veggie mix: 1/2 bag of organic shredded broccoli slaw 1/2 bag of organic shredded carrots 1/8 cup of brown rice 3 tbs extra virgin olive oil 1/4 cup filtered water 1 tsp dried parsley pinch of sea salt combined in a glass baking dish microwave for 12 minutes...cool...mash...lasts about 3 days. In dogs dishes I add 6-8 small pieces of baked chicken. Sometimes leftover beef or lamb. |

Raw Food Quote:
The ten minute meal: Run veggies through food processor Pour 6-8 ounces of water over ground meat and mash water into the meat to make it easy to mix with grains and vegetables. If it's poultry, add one tablespoon of 3% hydrogen peroxide (food grade!) or 4 drops of grapefruit seed extract to water before mixing. Puppies: 50% meat, 25% veggies, and 25% grains Dogs: 30% meat, 35% veggies, and 35% grains. After combining meat, veggies, and grains, keep adding water until the good is thick chili consistency. If you can form a meat ball, it is too thick. You can occasionally put in chunks of raw meat, if you wish. Do not allow a free feeding schedule with raw food diet! Puppies should have 3-6 meals a day and dogs will need a maximum of 2 meals a day. The cost is equivalent to prepared foods in the store, probably a little less. I hope this helps. Sorry for the length. |
