You can go to balanceit.com and buy a recipe.
I wouldn't use the Balance IT L that they will tell you to use.
I'd use the combination of human vitamins and minerals they will give you instead.

Dog Birthday Cake

A friend of mine gave me this recipe, which is safe for dogs. I made this the other day for my baby's first birthday. She loved it!! The humans had some too. It was pretty good.

Dog Peanut Butter Cake

1 Cup Flour
1 Tsp. Baking Soda
1/4 Cup Peanut Butter
1/4 Cup Vegetable Oil
1 Egg
1/3 Cup Honey
1 Cup Shredded Carrots

Mix the flour and baking soda together. Add remaining ingredients. Blend well. Pour into 8" round or square baking pan coated with PAM. Bake at 350 for 30 minutes. Cool completely. Frosting can be made with 1 cup Cottage Cheese and 2 tablespoons of peanut butter pureed in blender or food processor. Frost when cool. If you don't have a cake decorating kit, you can take some peanut butter in a ziploc bag, push it to the corner, seal it and cut the very tip of the corner off. Then you can write your baby's name on the cake. Here's a picture of mine. (I used the ziploc bag, and it was real easy).

Frozen Tasty Treats
 
This recipe I invented for my dog out of necessity - The vet thought she may have pancreatitis, so after her bouts of diarrhea, the vet suggested she rest her digestive system with white rice and low fat cottage cheese.

I fixed short grain white rice in my $14 rice cooker from Target, and mixed it with low fat organic cottage cheese (just in case she was sensitive to chemicals after coming off of i.v.) However, as a working mama, I couldn't mix it fresh everytime! So I made batches up over the weekend and froze it for a few days. She loved it! It was also easier to mix thawed cubes into her regular food as a way to slowly reintroduce her regular food.

1 cup cooked and cooled white rice
1/2 cup low fat organic cottage cheese

Mix in bowl, spoon into icecube trays, freeze, and serve.

Hello Everyone!

I just thought that I'd share the recipe my kids and I made for the dogs tonight.

Gingerbread Men for Dogs

2 cups whole wheat flour
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp ground ginger
1/4 cup dark molasses
1/4 water
1 large egg
2 tbsp canola or olive oil

Combine dry ingredients, then whisk wet ingredients seperately. Combine the 2. Roll out 1/4 inch thick. Bake at 350 for 12-15 mins until firm.

Hi, I am new to this site and it seems a little overwhelming, so I hope I am doing this right. I am really confused on what to feed my new yorkie. My last (the love of my life) I had to put down because of a collasped trechia. Before that I had given him a soup bone and he got acute pancretitus. The vet said it was due to the fat or the marrow in the bone. She said Yorkies can not digest fat very well and I don't want to make the same mistake again. Most people tell me to just feed him dry food and nothing else. He is a little picky and a little on the thin side. I am afraid if I just feed him dry he will get to skinny and if I feed him people food he will get sick. He also is doing the reverse sneeze thing which is really freaking me out because I think that is what brings on the trech problems. Can I get your take on these things? You sound like you have had yorkies for some time?

I haven't seen Ceibasmom post in a long time.
Fat can trigger pancreatitis but there is no reason to avoid people food altogether. :) There are certain things they can have and certain things they can't. I will say, just because you find a recipe in this thread doesn't mean it's safe. There are some I would never, ever feed. You can give all dry food. You can give canned or mix the two. You could do homecooked with the help of a nutritionist... Lots and lots of Yorkies reverse sneeze. I have never heard that it can cause collapsed trachea. Mine does it occasionally and I think her trachea is okay.

I'm sorry about your Yorkie. :(

Try some goats milk. I think it is a miracle come true for my dogs. I can't afford to give it to the adults very often but I have had 2 puppies from different mothers almost die from the mothers losing their milk. I am amazed at how well they did when I started feeding them the goats milk. For some reason we have a lot of problems with low blood sugar in our babies and the goats milk works wonders. It will put weigh on my adults but it is not cheap when you have as many dogs as I do. You can find it in the baking aisle in the grocery store. Sylvia

SPOT'S CHICKEN STEW

Remove from heat, let cool, and debone the chicken.
With an electric hand mixer or a food processor, blend the ingredients into a puree. The stew should be slightly thicker for dogs and more soupy for cats.
Using plastic baggies or yogurt containers, divide into meal-sized portions. Refrigerate three days' worth and freeze the rest.

A very large amount one time or small amounts over time have been blamed on hemolytic anemia, asthmatic attacks and dermatitis. Garlic is a member of the onion family and it does what onions do (toxic wise to dogs) just to a lesser degree. We skip it altogether. It isn't worth the risk.

Do you have a favorite receipe for dog biscuits? I've tried the ones from Blue Buffalo and Solid Gold...Prince would eat a tiny bit of each, and that is it.

I do a gingerbread/molasses recipe most and I just made banana muffins for Ellie. I can find the links if you would like them.
