| When to Nueter? My boy is about 6 1/2 months is it best to nueter him now or wait! I hear from some people to wait since they are a smaller breed! Is this nonsense? Thanks |

Luvs Lulu Donating Member | I think that is a good time. He is at the onset of his sexual maturity (that is what the vet told me) and it will be good to get it done before all the hormones start surging and you end up with marking issues. I wish that I had known that with Lex so he wouldn't have started marking in the house.

| I just had Jazz done on 3/22 (the day he turned 6 months) I was very concerned I never had a pet neutered before, he was a little sleepy at first but today he's great...his stool is a little soft and he's going more often today, which is a little annoying since he bypass the piddle pad everytime but I feel it was the right decisions for his overall health |

| I agree. Sydney is scheduled for April 6th. He'll be 6 months and 1 week old. |

Phantom Queen Morrigan Donating Member | 6 months is a great age for neutering. the puppy is usually big enough at this point but still hasn't had the surging of hormones. neutering now will help prevent marking, agression, humping, future health problems, etc. For males it isn't as big a deal like it is for females, but its still good to get it done at 6 months.

| What about spaying? Is 6 months a good age for that too?

Phantom Queen Morrigan Donating Member | yup 6 months is a good age because its before they go into heat. you don't want to wait any longer and chance it.

| Rusty is doing really good today! The pain meds that they gave him made him vomit and have the poops! So, last night I was up with him until 3:30 a.m. but today he even wants to play. He does have some bruising, and some reddness, but the vet tech said he must be sensitive. Thanks |
