I gave my dogs rat poison instead of quality dog food!
 
The lady at the Eukanuba booth at the dog show spent 15 minutes telling me why this food was so much better than the others. First, their $1.30 pouch of food is the exact same thing as the .33 cent brand sold at Walmart. I fell for the hype and the pretty pink packaging and started feeding it to my dogs.

The sad part of it is, I have 3 dogs with kidney damage. Now I have to wait and hope that they will live through this. I have a horrible feeling that at least one of them won't.

I am heart broken.

OH NO! I was hoping no one here was dealing with this horrible tragedy!! I'm so sorry and will be keeping your babies in my prayers!!! Please keep us posted. What are they doing for them??

Oh hunny :( I am so so sorry.......It was NOT your fault! How were you to know about this horrible horrible tragedy that is going on. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your 3 babies....There have been many who HAVE recovered from this. :hands: :hands: :hands: :hands: :hands: :hands: :hands: :hands: :hands:

I don't believe in lawsuits, it's not going to bring the dog back, and I think it was all just a horrible mistake.

Horrible things happen, that's a fact of life. Is money going to make one feel better? If not, then what is the point of sueing.

What's going to happen is there are going to be so many lawsuits that the company will file bankruptcy. All the other manufacturers will have to try to keep up with the increased demand and dog food prices will skyrocket.

It's a lose/lose situation.

I am so sorry you and your babies are going through this awful time.
Prayer's coming for all of you. Think positive and give all three of your
babies a hug from Buddy and I.
YT prayer's are very strong. I believe because God loves all dog's
and dosen't want any to suffer.
Please keep us updated on your 3 pups.

Don't blame yourself for that. We are all faced with so much information that it is not an easy decision to make. We do our best and so did you. That's the best any of us can do. It could be any one of us in your shoes. I'm so sorry and I pray your doggies will overcome this and be healthy again. Please try to keep us updated about them.

Oh Hun, This is not your fault. We all try to make the best decisions when it comes to our pets and all the lies that are out there makes it so hard to sift thru all the s***. And even when you think something is good, well, look what happens. This could of happened to anyone of us. Please try not to blame yourself. Try to stay strong for your dogs. Are they at the hospital or are they trying to recover at home with you? Just focus your attention on them getting better. Give them lots of kisses and shower them with all your love.

OH NO !!! I'm SO so sorry.....:( :( You're the first I've seen dealing personally with this and don't blame yourself !! It wasn't hype you fell for :( most of us trust the food we feed our pets is safe and we should !! It should never have taken an awful thing like this for regulations to be stricter and I'm so sorry you're going thru this.

How horrible....:( :( can you please let us know how they're doing ? I'm praying for you and hope they do survive this awful thing...

I am so sorry...I am so concerned that many stores still have the poisn food on the shelves...I would stop all canned and be very careful.

I hope and pray that your babies will recover. Many pets have recovered and are doing ok. I'm hopeful that yours will be among them. I'm so sorry that you are going through this heartbreak. Wishing you and your dogs the best outcome.

I went to a dog show and my dogs got sick when I got home. There were a couple of dogs there that had upset stomachs so I assumed my dogs had picked up a virus. I gave them Imodium and kept feeding them. When they started passing pure blood, I took them to the vet. He said that the GI tract was inflamed and gave them a/d food and told me to give them lots of water.
All but my 3 smallest got better. My girl Nona is very lethargic. She has a stage 5 heart murmur so she is not healthy anyway. Deuce seems to be feeling better but still has a very loose stool. My tiny boy Ace only weighs 3 lbs. He just lays on his bed and drools. Normally, he is a very active little guy.
He is fearless. He will challenge the biggest dog at the show. It's hard to watch this fun, active little dog suffer. He will look at me and his eyes seem to be pleading for help. I think he will die.

My vet is treating symptoms and has told me what to watch and when to take him the the ER vet. I have an appointment to take them to an internal med vet next week.

I'm so incredibly sorry that you're poor pups are sick. :( Like everyone said, don't blame yourself - you could not have foreseen this. Try to stay strong for your little ones and I hope they all recover quickly.

Did they do blood test to check for renal or kidney failure? When I took my two to the vet Monday because they had been on Iams pouches but were not showing symptoms the first thing the vet did was do the blood chemistry panel to see if their organs were functioning. Mine fortunately as of now are good but we were advised organ failure can still come on in the future and so we will have to watch them for some time.

Yes, they have all had blood tests for renal failure. 3 dogs test were within normal limits and the others were not.

Oh my gosh, I'm sorry to hear that. My vet said their were some treatments for acute failure, but chronic was harder to treat. I hope the best for you.

Oh hon....there was no way you could have know. You didn't knowingly feed that to your babies. I am so sorry, but please, don't blame it on yourself...you need you energy to take care of your little guys...
