| Backing his bottom up to us constantly....?? Rascal backs his bottom up to us whenever we are sitting down on the couch or anywhere. He'll turn himself around each time so that his bottom is facing us... He does not scoot around on his bottom though. I was feeling around his anal gland area and I felt a small pocket of something. I am not sure if his previous owner had his glands expressed or not. I don't want to start now if I don't need to. Backing his bottom to us is really the only thnig he does. Any ideas?? He doesn't seem to be uncomfortable.

| You too huh? I find it funny when Toby does it. But on a serious note. I had toby's anno glands cleaned thinking thats what the problem was. Vet said they were already clean. Toby loves to sit on my feet and when there is another dog or cat he sticks his butt in its face. I'm wondering if its a Yorkie trait? Also Toby never drags his butt along the floor. |

| Good to know. I was pretty sure it wasn't his glands. He loves to sit on our heads and feet too. LOL He is new to us so I was just checking... Thanks!!

| It is inexpensive to get the glands checked and cleaned. I would do it just to be safe. I don't think it hurts them but it probably would be uncomfortable like a human getting piles. |

Donating YT 1000 Club Member | My Mandy will back up to me to be picked up. She is 4 and has always done this. She doesn't jump up or com at me face first but I know when she backs up to me it means "pick me up mom" It is two cute. If I don't pick her up she will stay that way with her head turned to me like "WELL?" This only happens if I'm in my desk chair and no where else.

| Piper backs up to us whenever he wants to be picked up. I don't know why, but he does it all the time.

| Logan doesn't do that, but I have a friend who has a standard poodle that does. When she does it, it means she wants her heinie scratched. try scratching his bum & see if that helps.

| He/she is doing this to protect you. Dogs will back their little hineys towards you so they can race out if anyone/thing threatens you. It's a sign of love......they think they are ferocious little beings.... Edited: Read your other post, scratch his little end-quarters as well.....but, he still does love you!

| Sometimes dogs do that so that they feel closer to you, to be constantly touching you. My dog does it because he has some separation anxiety. I just move my foot when he does it. It is really cute, but it doesn't help them when you do have to leave them alone.

| Coby does that, especially to his big brother Reggie. But his is sort of a "cat rub" back and forth and back and forth and then ends with his bottom as close to Reggie as he can get. They're getting along pretty well (when Coby isn't being an obnoxious puppy), so it seems to be a good thing. Roxie, our other Yorkie did it to, so maybe it's a Yorkie thing.

| bean backs up , to get her butt scratched by me, when she plays with her cats she goes butt first at them so she can run away before they smack her. she learned that one pretty quick with the three cats is to funny, the cats have always been good with her and have never scratched her but have smacked her a couple of times when she has gotten to rambunctious. bean always stands behind me thats because i am the leader of the pack and she knows that is her place to be. she automatically does this and i couldn't figure out why till i started watching dog whisperer, awesome show. |
