Like WOW! That vet sure thinks highly of him/herself. Hey, I live in Rome, Georgia and I have a GREAT vet. Georgia is a great place to visit this time of year :) |
WHOA! That'a NUTS!!!!!!!!!! I'm hoping someone here will help you find a great vet that's not so pricey, holy MOLEY!!!!!! Good luck:D!!! |
holy crap im glad i dont live in ca. max would have been 290 for neutering and dental..but his teeth arent that bad so we are using the wash and drops in the water to see if that helps first...i sure hope you can find a reasonable vet geez |
It is o expensive here in California. My Mil called earlier this evening and said she just had her dogs teeth cleaned and pulled...get this cleaned, 2 teeth pulled and antibotics.....54 bucks!!! She is in synder Texas . I wanted to get Rocco and Sissys done when we were there at Christmas time. He was booked thought. |
My vet quoted me 135. for spay and removing 2 (well now 1 cause one came out) baby tooth...I'm in NYC....actually I'm thinking I'm gonna have it done this Thursday (of course I'm a nervous wreck thinking about it) |
 omg!? that is wayyy overpriced... you should search online for vets near your area and see how they rate? i think spayed + teeth pulled is usually around $200 here.. |

I am not 100% sure but I think that my vet charges $60.00 to spay. I will check monday. If I am correct you would save money coming to KY for the spaying...LOL |
In my area its normally around $75 spay/neuter add $50 if you want blood work, I was charged $200 for spay & a dental No blood work. You getting quotes from a celebrity vet out there in cali:D |
Hi, thats wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy overpriced :thumbdown When I had Trixie fixed it cost about $250 and that was for the pre-blood work, surgery, pain meds and her stay overnight. I had Pia fixed at another vet (since I moved) and she had 4 baby teeth pulled, pre-blood work, and the surgery for under $200. However, Pia's vet turned out to be a nightmare and I almost lost my little girl. In return for his mistakes I ended up having a vet bill of about $2000 :( Th best advice I can give is run from this vet that gave you such a high quote but also really check out the vet that you end up deciding on. Talk to as many people as possible. My poor Pia almost died because my vet sent her home the same day as surgery and felt she could go an entire day of throwing up and having the ugly D. In return she almost didn't make it because she went into shock. Thank goodness I had a wonderful ER to take her to. I'm not trying to scare you. The only thing that needed done with Pia was to put her on an IV for fluids. SIMPLE but the vet pretty much didn't want to take his time to do so. This was after many calls and even taking her there. His cure was to give a shot of fluids which wasn't enough. The worse thing about this vet is that he has two yorkies of his own. Thats why I trusted him  Big mistake!! So please really check out the person you decide to go to and ask tons of questions. Good Luck!! |
Looks like it would be cheaper for you to to get the procedure done in another state including the roundtrip airline tickets!!! Wow. |
OMG, I just realized who you were. You used Pia's pic for those pj's on ebay..:D Welcome to YT!!! |
   that is so overpriced!!!! I'd be looking for a new vet!!! My vet didn't charge extra to extract 4 teeth when Max was neutered. I think I paid about $150 but it also included his rabies shot. |
What a rip off. I thought NY was bad. It cost me 250.00 to neuter Buddy and it was enclusive of meds, etc. Vet pulled one puppy tooth for free. It is possible to go to the ASPCA and get a voucher for spaying? My daughter did here and it cost her $50.00 because they encourage you to do it and give a large discount on the procedure. A friend who does rescue also does it for dogs/cats she rescues. I didn't go. Dumb me. If you can get a voucher you can use your own vet. Income means nothing. Carol & Buddy |
I was charged $66.00 for the spay/neuter and $25.00 for the teeth. I think spending almost 1,000 is wayyyyyyyyyyyy too much. Time to go somewhere else. |
Wow, that is ridiculous! It was around $350.00 for us to get Wrigley spayed and have 14 teeth pulled. That included her antibiotics and all her pain medication! |

44 bucks for 1 millilliter or Ibuprofen    Sorry, but you need to keep looking. This is too far-fetched  |
cost My daughter paid $15 at the Humane Society and that included rabies. They did not ask income level or anything like that...all pay the same. Two of my old vets used to work one day per week at the HS spaying/neutering...so it was the same vets not students... |
I live in Reno which is not that far from you and to get Angel Spayed, (4)teeth pulled, blood work, pain meds, Anethesia, & microchipped is about $350.00. (and also her 3rd set of shots) I would check in some of your surrounding areas, even Sacramento has to have better prices then the bay area. What about around Napa/Somoma area? The $1,000 quote is way too much money! |
Thats REDICULOUS!!! It was like 80 bucks to get Chewy spayed in Brooklyn, NY. And i am really happy with the vet. everyone there is very nice and even gave me some free pain killers when i came to pick her up in case she would be in pain later on. Definately try to get some referrals from ppl you know in the area. Thats how i found mine because i was not happy with the office we used to go to. |
Thats ridiculous!!! My Vet charges $140 for a spay I dont know how much for a dental but it shouldnt be too much since they are already under anesthia. I would definitely be finding a new vet |
Wowsers! That's a lot of money for spay & teeth...Just because they charge more, doesn't make them better. I would definitely keep looking around. |
Marina.......what vet do you use? I'm in Brooklyn too and I thought at 135. I was getting a good deal |
I paid last week little over $400 for spay, 2 teeth pulled, blood work and microchip. I think that this is more than anyone here paid for having this done. But paying almost $1000 is just plain stupid!!!What does your vet think??? maybe hes hands are made of gold or something!!! they are just planning to ripoff ppl in bright daylight!!! |
My vet is great!!! Very caring! Also does after hours work. A spay is $60 Teeth $30 neuter $40 Vacinnations are only $5-15 depending on which ones. We took a female in at midnight. She was running a high temp and due to whelp in just a few days. She had preeclmasia (spelling). She was given a shot of calcium and sent home for us to watch. The total bill was $30. I usually leave mine overnight the night before surgery, as the vet is 20 min away. I pick them up the next evening. They do not charge extra for this since the dogs are not eating because of the surgery. I have a spare bedroom if you want to come to Kansas for your dog's vet work!! |
I had Piccolo neutered and teeth pulled and it was $45, so they did not charge much more to pull the teeth that were still there. I am taking two dogs in this week for teeth pulling. |

I asked the vets in December about spaying the small ones. They have done it before, but said it is diffecult as things are so tiny. I was going to have Beauty (3 pounds at 9 months) spayed before she left, but her new home was found very quickly and they wanted her before I had time to get her spayed and recover. I would not rush sending her before she had recovery time. |
