Hello Pia! Bambie sends hugs and kisses. :D |
Wow, that sounds way too much, we paid around $200, bloodworks, spay, and 2-3 teetch extractions. I guess you can tell my what he charges for a regular visit too? |

I live in Grand Prairie Texas and I paid 1700.00 to have my Oliver fixed and teeth pulled.... he did only have one testicle that dropped so they had to find the other testicle , They are really really good but super expensive... I had a female about 8 years ago that had pirometra (sp) her uterus was rotting.... and that surgery was 2650. 00 I took my Samson almost 4 months old just for his new puppy check within 1 week of getting him from the breeder to make sure he was healthy .,,,,, NO SHOTS ,,,, breeder had just given him shots,.,,, and it was 108.00 ,,,, I have heard of another vet in town,,, the one my breeder uses and she says he is a whole whole lot cheaper .,,, I just had to change.,, I have gone to them for about 20 years,,, |
Geez! I know the cost of living is higher in CA than it is in KY, but not THAT much higher! Even when I get the laser spaying done here in KY, it's only just over $100 for the entire thing, including the pre-op and post-op appointments. They even pull teeth, grind nails (I think this is like $10 extra), and keep the little ones all day and over night for this amount. If they have to pull an abundance of teeth, they'll charge a little extra because of the use of extra anesthesia and time in the OR, but that's totally understandable. My goodness, I don't think I've ever left my vet having paid a bill more than $250 or so, and that was when we had major problems or multiple critters there on the same day or something. I'd run, and run quick from that vet....but not before I told them how out of their minds they were for thinking that just because I loved my animal, and that because I could afford a nice animal, I could afford to just throw my money at anyone who could make up high prices to pay for normal, everyday, treatment that can be done for much, much more reasonable prices. Sheesh...talk about pricing yourself right out of the market! Edited to add: They didn't even charge me extra when I had to take in a 2.5 lber to get her spayed as she was full grown and wasn't going to get any bigger. Granted, they were going to have to work on TINY little parts, and were going to have to be EXTRA careful, but they didn't charge me any more than they always have. So there goes the theory that because the animal may be small, they were charging more. |
