| 8 week old pup I think I'm leaning towards Canidae dog food. I'm just wondering what kind of Canidae food I need to get? The dry ones or the canned ones? Rusty's only 8 weeks old btw. |

| Nope, unfortunately you can't. They sell it at smaller pet stores, if you go to their sight they should have a store locater. Every "Pet Supplies" store I've been to in SC and FL has it. The have a white and green sign and it says "Pet Supplies". You could also check out Feed stores sometimes they carry it their too. All Canidae Foods are All Life Stages so it's safe for him to eat any of them just make sure he gets the proper amount. I think it's up to 1 cup for a puppy. I always free feed mine, meaning that the food is always available to them whenever they want it. I find that they most certainly do not over eat and I've never had any hypglycemic problems with them whatsoever! If you do decide to feed him on a schedule, make sure he gets plenty of small meals through out the day. When I got Jewelina she had 5 meals a day and that was when she was 12 weeks old and weighed 1 pound 6 ounces. If he doesn't seem to care for the Canidae at first, give it a little bit of time. You could also try getting a can of the Canidae food and offering him a teaspoon of that mixed in with his food. I've never seen a dog turn down good can food and it would probably be enough to wet his appetite and get him to eat it more. If you wanted to keep giving him some wet food with the dry food you can, just make sure he does eat plenty of dry food. It is wonderful for their health and also helps tremendously with their teeth. If you have any questions at all please feel free to PM me anytime. |
