I am a newbie here.... my yorkie testicles have not dropped Hey guys I am a newbie to this site... I have a brand new Yorkie I have had for 2 days.... he was born 11-04-06 so he is 3 months old.... he is very active, but very very small, the breeder I got him from has bred Yorkies for 25 years... she keeps them all inside her home and does not breed any other type of dog... She seems very knowledgable and has been very supportive and willing to answer any questions... BBBBBUUUUUTTTTTTTT I want to hear from the other experts.... the one that have no vested interest.... My baby is like I said 3 months old and there are no signs of any testicles.... no nothing.... He is very tiny .... weighs only 1.1 lb but very active and playful I have been a yorkie owner to a 2 yr old Yorkie that only weighs 3 lbs so she went ahead and let him come to live with me since I am home all the time to watch him and care for him ,,,, otherwise she was going to hold on to him for another 3 weeks or so... ( my other yorkie was 4 months old before I got him ) My question is should I be concerned????? will they come down later since he is so small??? that is what the breeder is saying.... but I want to hear what you guys have experienced..... He is a doll and taking him back is not an option to me..... although the breeder has told me she would take him back with complete refund.... I am taking him to the vet on Thursday 2-8-. |
My Bobo had retained testicles also, he was 1lbs or so at that age, by 5 mos his had not come down, he also had liver shunt surgery and at that time they were able to locate the testicles and remove them, my breeder also said that they would come down later, but they didn't my vet said they would not. just my experience |
I think he is still young yet. Chachis didnt drop untill he was 6 months old |
Have you taken him to the vet for a checkup yet? They can usually feel them. My Maltese didn't show any sign of them until he was almost 5 mos old. |
Both my boys are 10 1/2 weeks old and I just did a "feel test", lol... and I felt both boys had two really tiny little "balls" down there. But it seems that the age range can vary from the posts on here. :p |
some dogs don't even begin to drop until 6 months or so. if he's still only 3 months i wouldn't fret. harley didn't drop until 5 or 6 months either :) |
I just did a 'feel' test too lol...both of Reece's have dropped..but one seems larger than the other??? Reece is 7 months old. I never thought to check before..is this normal?? Dawn |
Ok, I HAVE to say this. Everytime I see the Title of this thread I read : I am a newbie here.... my testicles have not dropped and I just feel SO sorry for you   - then I SEE the word yorkie in there & it makes sense - it must be a mental block today:D |
My stud was about a year when he had both of his down. He is 3 lbs. |
Dallas is 4 1/2 months old and you can finally feel his apple seeds. They are starting to come down but barely. It just takes time. |
Does your Dr. know you were born with yorkie testicles? Sorry..couldn't resist!:lol tears |
I am sorry I didn't see the post go through so I posted again.... now you can all make your comments to me again... My testicles still have not dropped but my husband just told me I don't have any.... Maybe I should have surgery and see if they can find them... Thank you all for your comments.... I take him to the vet on Friday... she is a yorkie owner and is out of town until then... I chose to wait on her rather than taking him to her partner.. I did notice last night after playin with him and him being very excited he had two little bulges on the shaft of his penis ,,,,, I don't know what that is but my fixed Yorkie does that sometime when he is playing and excited... I looked that up on the internet and found that that was normal ,,, but I don't know if that is in any way related... |
My boy is 13 wks and his have not dropped yet either..The vet checked and they are there...So i think it is ok.. |

Oh my! lol :D  |
teh title is just tooo funny. |
Reggie is 23 weeks old and his haven't dropped yet either. I wanted to ask do you have to wait for them to come down to have the dog neutered? So far Reggie does not lift his leg any and has never marked anything. I am hoping to have him neutered before he ever figures out how to do that. Any suggestions? |
beaus testicles beau is 16 weeks and his are not there, vet said if no sign at 6m she would go vin and find them is that normal?:animal-pa |

i believe she means to neuter him as we plan on getting him done. or maybe i should wait and let nature take its course and see if they drop by themselves as some on here have said it could be up to a year before they drop what do people think please advise x:confused: |
i know this is an older post bit it had me doubled over laughing lol |

The title of this thread is hilarious! As for the recent poster, I have heard of vets having to neuter when the testicles have not descended. It is more costly because it is more invasive, but it can be done. |
it is a breath holding time waiting for them to "appear".....i found the thread while searching for info |
Maturing Yorkie My male yorkie Apollo has two apple seed testicles and they are sitting in the pouch but they haven't dropped yet. I can feel both of them. He's 6 months old. Should I be worried? |
