Hi!

This is to you gals that have been in the yorkie kennels for a long time what is the dog food you feed your yorkies and puppies. Thanks Dian:aimeeyork

I have been told that "Solid Gold" Wee Bits is truly the BEST, but any holistic dog food would be great. My groomer and all the pet stores I have asked say it is the best. Look at the ingrediants, its very important. The dogs have alot of energy and their coat is beautiful. Please research the holistic dog foods. Yorkies are so small and if you give them a food with a lot of chemicals it will affect them much more. Raw meat is also good on occasion.

Solid Gold Ingredients:

Bison, Salmon Meal, Millet, Brown Rice, Cracked Pearled Barley, Rice Bran, Canola Oil, Flaxseed Oil, Garlic, Amaranth, Blueberries, Yucca Schidigera Extract, Dried Chicory Root, Taurine, Carotene, Choline Chloride, Vitamin E Supplement, Iron and so on.

As will anything else opinions are subjective and will vary ;)

I feed Life's Abundace and Canidae all life stages............'I' feel they are the best for 'my' furkids :p

Precise Plus is really good and I went to a designer dog store and asked for the best food to buy for my puppy and they had tons but said this was the best.

I feed Canidae All Life Stages and it works wonderfully for both of mine!

It really does depend on what works well for YOUR dog. Yorkies are very picky so if you buy a really good dog food and he doesn't eat it, you would be better off with a little lower quality food that he will eat well. Some good choices to try are Canidae All Life Stages, Wellness, Life's Abundance, Merricks, Innova, and Solid Gold.

My vet. told me to feed Eukanuba when I got my 1st YT. But I never see it mentioned in this forum. Am I misinformed? Also, if Eukanuba is a quality feed then, would Iams also be okay since it's made by the same company? Just wondering & would like other opinions.:rolleyes:

There is a ton of info on this...........type in Eukanuba or Iams in the search field. They are ranked low quality.

What I have learned is that Eukanuba and Iams have a lot of animal bi-products. Doing a little research on that subject you will discover some very gross things. Unfortunately, Vets get a kick backs from large companies for "recommending" their product. I buy my Wellness brand from a specialty store. Some health food stores also carry the better brands.

I feed Wellness treats..........they are stinky but I feel good feeding them...great stuff :thumbup:

I do the samething, I give my puppy Wellness treats, he loves them. They are very stinky though but he loves them.

This might be the wrong place, I feed my puppy Royal Canin Baby Dog and the vet seemed to agree that it was a good quality dog food. . .any thoughts?
Also, lately he hasn't been eating while I'm gone. It's hard to get in the habit of feeding him and then picking up the dish when he won't eat at all! And when I'm at work I have to leave the food out.
Any thoughts, comments, ideas??

I am switching mine to Wellness wet and when I got Pixie 2 weeks ago her Breeder gave me a big bag of Sensible Choice by Royal Canin it is their natural line. My 2 dogs that have never eaten hard are both eating i.

Kacee has eaten Royal Canin in the past. She ate it, but she wasn't crazy about it. Because it contained corn, I decided to give her something else. She likes Wellness, but the bites are too big for her. They are all different. She eats Natural Balance now and really loves it. What one likes, another might not. They're like people and have different appetites for what they like.

Isn't the Baby Dog Royal Canin just for weaning a puppy -- like 4-8 weeks old? Are you going to continue with it til 10 months and old enough for the adult RC?

I free feed mine kibble all the time. That way I know they won't go hungry. Then they get their canned food mixed with more dry once a day. They eat a good amount of kibble -- the canned is just to give a little variety.

I alternate between Merricks dry and Canidea All Life stages. Both excellent foods.

I've tried Innova, Wellness, Royal Canin (stopped because i thought the igredients has corn), Lotus, Innova Evo

Now i mix Innova Evo with Lotus. They love lotus, but they seem to be a bit big for the, so when i have time, i break them in half.

Does anyone else feel Lotus Hollistic dog food? I was told it has the best human grade ingredient. does anyone feed this to their babies?

Solid Gold Wee Bits, Natural Balance Venison/brown riche and Natural Balance Duck/potato! Both the maltese and the yorkie love the stuff, especially when mixed with a little ham or turkey! LOL
