I am not a breeder nor do I have the knowledge to be one, but I know basic Rule #1 is to wait until they are atleast 2 years old! Please try and take into consideration they are only trying to help you protect your female! She isn't yet a year! They just want to help you avoid putting her life at risk. Ok I'm sorry I asked the question in the first place. I know most of you are here to help and when I said we are going to breed her i didnt mean right away, we are now waitng until at least her second heat if not longer. Just to let you all know our female is 7 lbs and our male is 4 lbs. Thats all I am going to post for now I'm going through a rough time right now some friends of mine were in a car wreck.. not that it matters..but anyways. Thats all for now

I am speaking from experience. I thought I was doing everything in my power to keep my two apart because we had intentions of breeding down the road after I did my research. I kept my girl crated up and a belly band on my boy if they were ever together. I never saw them connect... but they must have. My girl was on her second heat... but still extremely young and she had no idea what to do. We thought she was gaining a little winter weight (it has snowed her for 7 weeks straight) and they haven't had much exercise. I had no idea she was pregnant. To my own stupidity Lilly gave birth by herself in the middle of the night. She only had two puppies and one was already gone when we found her at 5:30 in the morning. I think God is teaching us to respect his creatures. We now have decided without question that we are keeping the one baby. We are fixing them as soon as we are able. Having just the one puppy made me realize that I could have never given a puppy away to start with. I am glad little Scout came to us... but the death of the other puppy haunts me everyday. I would do what others have suggested and keep them separate if possible in two different houses.
I know it is not what you wanted to hear... and I know because I felt the same way you did. Puppies are cute... but a lot of heart ache can come with that. I could have lost my female and I would have never forgiven myself. Just get educated. I am not judging you because I am you.
