Turkey? Can Yorkies have turkey? Every now & then, I will put a little turkey (lunch meat) in with Diamond's dry kibble and someone at work was telling me that dogs cannot have turkey? Is that true? |
I seen a post on here about the same thing. I really don't know if its good or bad but I do know that Mimi & Timmy had a fiest for Thanksgiving.:D |
Turkey has a lot of fat in it and Yorkies are prone to pancreatitis. I had a Yorkie -Pebbles that got pancreatitis and had to be on IV for 3 days fortunately we got through it but it was scary and expensive. I now only give dog treats and no table food they are just too sensitive. |
well i woudlnt' give them lunch meat.. a lot of that is processed.. and like other said can be full of fat! Layla had some turkey on christmas day but only white meat.. and it was the real stuff so i coudl see the fatty areas.. but even then she didn't get much... if i were you and you wanted to give them soemthing special stick to veggies and fruit. so good for them and full of fibre!! |
turkey I was told by the breeder and my vet never to give turkey or pork to yorkies. |
Thanks for the information! I never knew about this and I hope Diamond will be okay...she hasn't had any problems yet  I have been giving her turkey everyday mixed with her food  I think it's been a couple months now :( I will cross my fingers and hope she stays healthy  |
