It cost me $110 to get Chachi neutered |
Way back when I had Gabby spayed (9 years ago), total cost was less than $200 and included up-to-date shots, spay, and baby teeth pulled. I had Gage altered back in February and total cost with shots and surgery was $250 but I also purchased his HeartGuard meds and some steroids that the vet put him on because of his skin. Compared to what I paid, I do think the prices are a bit high. |
I am in Canada so it's different but I paid almost $600. It included a michrochip, 4 teeth ($42 each) and a collar. I called other vets and the prices were similar. I picked him up the same day but they charged me for overnight stay anyway. |
microchips are about $35 here that's way too much and all those other costs seem inflated spay/neuter is around $110 here if that. |
That's insane I paid less than $150 for Lucy's spay. That included the bloodwork, pain meds, teeth pulled, and rabies shot. I would check around. |
That is ridiculous. I paid $50 and got Coco spayed and got pain meds as well as antibiotics for that price. She did perfect and you can't even see the scar. They did an amazing job. |

if you don't want something done your vet should honor that. |
How many of you have had bloodwork done on your furbabies? Also, did you use pain medication and the collar at all?I would like to skip these things but at the same time i am nervous about skipping the bloodwork. |

I shopped around for Shylah's spay. I love my vet dearly but she was just too expensive for spay. I found a very nice vet and had Shylah spade for $246.00. I passed on the blood work (didn't feel it was necessary) I got her a chip and she had 4 teeth pulled. This also included the pain meds. She did not need to stay over night and didn't need an eliz. collar. I saved $100 by going to her and Shylah is just fine. I did interview her first before I took her in for the exam. Check the clinics out first. Some of them can be pretty scary! |

I had Gucci spayed on the ASPCA mobile van for free. I guess I was lucky. When I call the vet for an estimate he wanted arounf $500. |

They never put one on Mollie. |
My vet told me that my dog didn't need bloodwork - so I didn't get it. And - everything went great! Carol Jean |
Vet's usually won't do blood work before a surgery unless its requested or the dog is over 8 years old. The only other situation would be if there was a existing problem the dog had and the levels needed to be checked before attempting surgery. |
