| Yorkies lose hair like we do...our hair falls out all the time strand by strand although we dont "shed" we do lose hair. That is the same for a yorkie, so you wont see hair fall out as you pet your dog or it wont shed on your clothes, = as yorkies have human like hair not fur...I think I explained that right?? Dawn |

| Dawn is right - yorkies grow hair, not fur and they lose it the same way that people do. Yorkies don't have the undercoat that other breeds do - this is why they are so susceptible to cold temperatures - and this is why other breeds shed.

| thats what i thought that yorkies dont shed, i mean thats one of the reasons i got a yorkie b/c of their hair and all the benefits to it ... vet said something maybe be up with is thyroid but i truely dont think thats the case. sometimes i feel going to the vet isnt helpful at all.... sigh

| I'd keep an open mind about the thyroid -- I was shedding like crazy when my thyroid went bad. Good to at least do the blood test.

| We had a problem with Toto losing hair unnaturally .... she was allergic to a dye in new carpet we just had installed. Vet gave her a couple of meds, instructed us to get new carpet cleaned and she's been fine ever since. I was shocked that could cause it but thankful it wasn't anything more serious! Also thankful that Patrick didn't rip out the carpet with his bare hands, which was what he wanted to do! [BTW, her thyroid was fine.] Hope your baby will be fine ... please keep us updated.
