| Good News!!! TRIXIE DOESN'T HAVE ALLERGIES!!! She does have a mite though. BUT, this is GREAT news for us. We've been dealing with her skin problems for months now and it's finally there's an end in sight!!! I'm so glad that I went to a specialist, because Trixie was diagnosed with allergies by two different vets. And I thought I was crazy for not seeing any improvement despite antibiotics, steroids, shampoos, diets etc. The dermatology vet looked at Trixie's skin, and right away said, it could be allergies, but it looks more like demomex! Apparantly it's a mite that lives in their hair follicles, and clogs it. That's why her coat has been so oily, her pores turned from red to black, and she got all the infections. I was so excited that there was finally an explanation for all of the symptoms and to know that she's going to be better soon!!!! She's on a new medication that should clear it up in a few months. AND, the vet said we can stop our elimination diet. YEEEEAAAAHHHH!!! Trixie got her first treat in months at the vet's office (and I about bawled my eyes out). And tonight I got a bunch of different treats for her. Trixie is enjoying every last tiny piece of it!!!

| Thats great that you got it all figured out!!! I am sure Trixie is much happier now too!! What kind of skin problems has she had?? My friend has a shih tzu and they think it has a type of allergy but nothing is helping. And her coat is oily and smells and she gets sores everywhere for scratching. They just can't figure out how to help her, I feel so bad for her.

| Thats great! I would call the other 2 vets and let them know what she has. All those years of medical school & it took a specialist to diagnose her. Kinda like the human world. |

| Thats great that you got some answers. Chachi had Mites before too and the vet thought it was allergies. We were going crazy because he always seemed to get worse not better. I was glad when we found out what it was and they treated it. Mites can be very hard to get rid of too. Good luck

| How wonderful you've gotten a correct diagnosis!!! YEAH!!! Now Trixie will start feeling better in no time. It's bad enough when we deal with allergies ourselves, but when it's our babies...it's so hard to deal with...we want them happy and comfortable.

Please have her ask the vet for a skin scrape for mites! I had asked both my vets about mites, but they said it was allergies.
