Pineapple worked for Beau. I just feed him a few chunks a day as a treat. |
I feel so bad for people who have to deal with this. It is very frustrating. Anyhow, just to share my experience... Bailey did this when she was a puppy and when she ate commercial dog food. At 8 mos of age I put her on a homemade raw diet - she immediately quit. I believe the reason that she quit is because she fully digests her food - there's no nutritional value left and so she leaves it. In fact, she won't even help me find it in the yard so that I can scoop it up! I little help would be nice! |
I just went to my vets today and picked up a couple packets of forbid, we will see how this works...i really really hope this works for us because my puppy is quite the poo poo eater i will keep everyone posted |
We work with a rescue and this seems to be a common problem there too! We use the organic canned pumpkin (a lumped teaspoon) and mix it in with their food and it has actually worked for us! I would be leary of the MSG due to the fact that it portion size for a Yorkie could be daunting. It is considered safe for humans when "eaten in appropriate levels" but being a sodium derivative I would worry about blood pressure issues and diabetic issues from MSG consumption. Here are two links relating to just those two items: Diabetes: Glutamate ingestion: the plasma and muscle free amino acid pools of resting humans -- Graham et al. 278 (1): E83 -- AJP - Endocrinology and Metabolism Blood Pressure: Handbook of food, drug, and cosmetic ... - Google Books |
Yep, I have a picky poo eater as well. Bug will only eat Baby's poo. She will frustrate Baby by practically sticking her face up her butt waiting for it. Bug will absolutely not touch her own poop. Baby will have nothing to do with poop of any kind. But, Bug seems to think that Baby's poops really are tootsie rolls. Pineapple helps, but mostly, I just snatch Bug up when Baby is doing her business and pick it up immediately. and for those times when I think I may have missed an 'event', lets just say, I don't let Bug kiss me quite as intimately as Baby does.... |
