Throwing Up... Do your Yorkies throw up? If so, how often? It seems Yoda throws up every 2 to 3 weeks, and sometimes we just can't figure out why (no change in diet, he didn't eat any weird things from outside). It's usually just yellow bile that he throws up. We just feel bad for the little guy when he does throw up. He didn't have any mad dashing or lots of running around this morning when he did throw up. Do you think it's possible to train a Yorkie to throw up in a certain area as well? Yoda puked all over our bed this morning, we'd much prefer him to throw up on the vinyl flooring in the kitchen. |
Awww, poor Yoda! I don't know if you can train them to do that in a certain area, but stranger things have happened! Tia has thrown up once, on her first outing in her carrier. Sandy has been sick once since we've had her as well - it was that yellow stuff too :( |
The odd time one of my dogs has thrown up it always seems they like do it on a carpet or soft surface like bedding or a blanket... I even had a whole house of hardwood floors once and my dog when she had to puke would run to the stairs the only surface with carpet and throw up on them. I think the only thing you would be able to do is when you hear him start to throw up rush him if you can to the lino. Hears wishes that Yoda has no more upset tummy problems! |
toby has thrown up on our bed, but that was only because my fiance was playing with him and tossing him in the air right after he just ate  .... i think he has puked 2 or so times other than that...... but it was always outside |
This is such PERFECT timing for your thread. Schatzie threw up yesterday while laying with me on the couch. It was as you mentioned, yellow bile. She ALSO does this about every 2-3 weeks and nothing seems to be the cause for it. I at times wonder if it's pollen in the air, just normal digestive things taking place; Like maybe they want to burp but can't like us humans or whatever? I find her in great health and kinda stopped worrying as she seems to have no ill affects from her little episodes. As in regarding to "train" to puke in the right spot, good luck and let me know how it works. Schatzie seems to always find the rug or blanket on the couch. |
Bella threw up Monday morning and I took her to the vet and she had become dehydrated from the throwing up. They did some blood test but I don't have the results back. They told me to ALWAYS worry when a tiny dog throw up. I am thinking it was something in the air or that she ate since we went to a park for my son's soccer game, but I don't know yet. Don't you worry when yours throw up? I don't want to go through what I did Monday with her every time is she is going to throw up on a regular basis |
my vet suggest pepto when up set stomach 1/4 teaspoon every 4/6 hrs. and if persist give some pedelite, and cruched ice cubes to re- hydreate :) |
If they are throwing up yellow bile it usually means the stomach is to empty. I always make sure mine eat something before bed or in the morning a couple will be sick. Not all of them do this some seem more sensitive than others. Yucky stuff too when the throw this up. |
Interesting CC's. Come to think of it, I think Yoda really didn't eat much on Tuesday. That makes a lot of sense actually, too, since once in a while, Yoda will eat less. The throwing up also seems to happen when his Mommy is stressed out a bit and usually he does throw up in the morning too. Thanks for all the good info! :) |
Wow...I'm always amazed at how many people out there have yorkies like my Zoey! Zoey is a puker, too! Probably at least once a month, she pukes. Sometimes, she will actually puke food, though (even if it is her regular diet food), but mostly the yellow stomach fluid. Sometimes it comes out a bit foamy (anyone else's pup do that?). I was never sure what to do with it either....and let me know if you figure out how to train your pup, because Zoey's puked on my covers more than once! |
fastEddie==in my opinion Yoda shouldn't throw up so often;my yorkies seldom do;except sometime when pregnant;but again they all have access to outside grass which they eat occasionally for upset stomach;I would talk with your vet ;and maybe you can narrow down the cause;possibly something brought in on your shoes ; hug Yoda for us and tell him we're thinking about him !! jerry |
You guys make me so glad mine aren't pukers! Leila did it occasionally her first year (and yup, on the bed too!) but hasn't really since. |
Hmmm I though it was just Lucy! She throws up every couple of months, yellow bile etc and now you mention it it does seem to be if she has not eaten much. I wondered maybe she hasn't eaten if not feeling well then thrown up yellow bile because she has not benn eating? She gets quite travel sick though, which is a shame as she loves the car :( |
Diesel has thrown up a couple of times also! I have noticed that this usually happens when he refuses to eat his food some mornings. I have now started giving Diesel a little bit of honey when he doesn't want to eat, (I might drizzle a little on his food also), and a few minutes later he is better and eating again. I hope this helps. :) Reagan :) |
