Rotate Food? Is it necessary to rotate your dogs food at least once every three months? I have been feeding Bachee Natural Balance Ultra Premium dry food for about 4 months now. So I was thinking of switching to the Natural Balance Sweet Potato and Fish formula. Does anyone give this to their Yorkies? If so do they like it? I never heard of feeding a dog fish before.

Donating YT 14K Club Member | Haven't heard of that dog food before but some people will swear that you must switch their foods ever so often to prevent developing allergies.

Is it necessary? I wouldn't think so... Dogs with sensitive stomaches probably shouldn't have their food switched around too often. It can be rough on their digestive system. Natural Balance is a good food, so I wouldn't worry too much about your pup not getting good nutrition... You can rotate if you want... But sometimes giving them too many choices can lead to a picky eater! If he's eating it every day and doesn't seemed turned off by the food, I wouldn't bother... JMHO

I don't but according to Whole Dog Journal you should switch foods every 2-3 months. Supposedly it increases the nutritional intake, lessens the chance of food allergies and provides variety to the dog. They are talking about brand switching, not just another variety of the same brand. Of course, they are also only recommending the higher quality foods. Ellie

Something new I had never heard that before but after reading it on the website - guess I'll do that too. Course Little Bit is only 4 1/2 months old & she is on her 3rd food. Finally settled on 'Canidae but have been mixing it with Pro Puppy the breeder used.

Bachee seems to love Natural Balance. He eats it all up every day. His coat is really shiny and he has no digestive problems either. So I would like to stick to it. However, I don't want him developing an allergy. Has anyones dog developed an allergy from eating the same food for too long?
