I go back and re-read this every couple months because I just can't beleive I was able to save my babies life!!!

She's a dream come true and there isn't a day that goes by, that she doesn't make me happy.

I just need positive advice and positive hope to keep my spirits up. Everyone around me seems to not be as positive.

Any help, advice...thoughts..on what I need to do???

hey keep doing what your doing..Nathan has somewhat of one also his nose area..I sent you a pm and anything I can do to help please ask all the questions you want ..if my baby can make it so can yours!!! He is 8 months old today!!!!

lol I feel so silly I now see that this thread was a year ago and I was so frantic and wanted to let you know i was thinking about your baby as I have one with that same issue!!! :) well glad to see your baby is fine as is mine!!!!! lol and he is such a social butterfly!!!

Thanks for the PM !!! Yes I visit my Tia's thread every so often as I'm amazed at what she has overcome :D We love her soooo much !!!

I know this thread is sooooo old but I always come back because I am just totally AMAZED at how my little special girl has beat the odds.

She will be 2 this year!!!! In July! I remember my frantic self trying to get her to weigh 1 pound.

She is my special angel. She can only drink from a water bottle and she eats hard food with treats too :) I would do this all over in a heart beat!

I wanted to post a couple pics of her to share how well she is doing!

Her mom Zoey still mothers her and they are inseperable. They love eachother so much!!!!

Thanks for the update Breny....she is adorable, I dont post very often now but when this came in my inbox I had to come and check her out.:D It is great to see how she has beaten the odds, thanks to your dedication to her survival.:)

congrats to you!! my cleft palate little boy was one in october and you really don't know he has it with all the hair etc and he is all boy!!! nothing fragile about him at all!!!

Oh so cute! This was such an amazing post to read! I work as a speech pathologist with babies in the nursery and NICU with cleft lip +/- palate. We work with parents on how to compensate for all of these feeding issues in these babies! It's so interesting how the difficulties are SO similar between dogs and children! I will have to go back and take the time to read everything in this post!

How interesting! Tia is just amazing and reading back at my posts, just amaze me. I was so desperate to help her. I was NOT ever giving up on her! I'm so proud of "her" and of "myself" for what we have gone through together!

Gee this is good, keep us informed on her progress.. I had two born with cleft pallet.. my first time breeding.. did not breed the female again. we did not know how this happend neither....

Both baby's I tube fed, and neither made it.. one was 5 days the other 6 days.. so you are doing well. keep up the good work. she is going to be pretty special to you..

I would be interested in her progress for sure..

She will be 2 in July :p This is an old thread that I've been keeping updated. She is a Chi and I never bred her mommy again either. I fought long and hard and little Tia is still with me today and I LOVE her to death!!!!!!

I am so impressed that she was able to stay alive.. I had the help of a breeder who insisted she take the two girls to tube feed, although I was at the time doing good, she made me feel she could do better.. they died..
I learned later she only tube fed by day not at night..
I have gracie who is still alive, she did not have cleft pallet but only wanted to suckle for about a minute or two, then sleep 4 hours. so we tube fed her night and day for two weeks.. she then had the strength to suckle on her own and we kept her.. named her grace " for the grace of god she is still alive"
