Constant Licking My Yorkie licks constantly. He'll even lick the air if he has nothing else in front of him. Is this a health condition or is this normal with Yorkies? Can I do something about it?

The same goes here My male yorkie, Bojangles, likes to lick all the time. I have heard yorkies and other breeds may do this if they are bored. Bojangles needs constant attention. I think it's kinda funny cause my yorkie is so much like a child. His licking just reminds me that he loves attention from his mama!

Vet told me the constant licking is related to allergies and it seems to make sense. During allergy season the licking gets insane and then it settles down again. When it gets real bad...the constant licking all night that keeps me up I give my little fella benadryl and it calms him down. Helps with the "backward sneezing" thing he gets too during that time.

Licking Max doesn't lick himself, just mostly us and the sheets on the bed!! It drives me crazy at night sometimes. He crawls under the covers and licks my legs, then licks my pillow and my husband's neck. I say, "Max, go lie down" - He sighs, then moves down to the end of the bed and lies down. About 10 minutes later he is at it again and we have to say the same thing. It is like his nighttime ritual before he goes to sleep. Does anyone know why he enjoys licking so much? It is like he is in his own little world when he does this. Jackie

I know what you mean...hard to get a good night's sleep. My Max usually goes for his paws though which is a sign of allergies. When it gets too bad I do the Benadryl and it calms down. Right now is a bad time in the season. Seems to be certain times too...late night and then he sleeps like it calms him when he's finsihed licking and then again early morning for about 30 mins and then he's done for the day. Ah....little doggies...gotta love 'em!
