My little guy is sick again!! Just when I thought we had this pancreatitis thing under control!! My poor little buddy, is sick again. I thought that he was acting a little strange and of course hubby thought I was being overprotective again, but sure enough we took him to the vet, and what do you know. His pancreatitis is rearing it's ugly head! :( He isn't throwing up or anything, but his blood work showed elevated levels. I am just so frustrated. He doesn't get anything but his prescription food. Does anyone have any advice?? Thanks for listening! |
No advice to give - but I hope he feels better soon. Hugs to you, too. |
I’m sorry to hear your baby is sick. What is pancreatis? Did they say what was causing it? |

Oh Little Zeus...get well soon! I am praying that Zeus gets better very soon. Maybe if you don't see a change in his condition ask your vet about another brand of prescription food. I sure am rooting for the lttle guy! |
I am so sorry to hear he is going thru this again. I watch Gizmo like a hawk when he goes outside to do his business just in case there's blood in it again. We went thru a bad attack over a year ago and has had a couple small ones. I really don't think there's anything else I can do. The condition is there and I just have to deal and give him his Reglan when is needed and hope it doesn't go full blown. Poor baby, I really hope your little one is feeling better soon, it is helpless to watch. You just need to know when to get to the vet in time before the dehydration set in. Biggeriest hugs to Zues, and to Mommy too.:) |

Yes that was one of the worst times of my life when that happened, tubes down me for days and then I had to get pneumonia on top of it and enlarged heart. Was on matlt o meal most of the three months before they could remove the gall bladder, my hemoglobin dropped way too low and with the malt o meal it is very nutritonal so it helped build me up so I could have the surgery. |
Sending hugs to Zeus this morning. I had no idea about pancreatitis....it does sound painful...:sickie: I also wonder..if changing perscription food brands would help some. :dreaming: I hope you find an answer soon to the diet issues...gosh how hard this must be for both of you.....:big_hug: :getwell: |
Oh Farrah! I am so sorry Zeus is not feeling well! Poor little guy! Please give him hugs and puppy kisses from the girls and I! I hope he feels good enough to come play with Wosie at the Bark Park on the 17th! I would love to meet you. Get better soon, Zeus honey!:getwell: |

Thanks everyone for all your well wishes, my little one really appreciates it and so do I! :yorkietal He seemed to be feeling ok last night and this morning, but again, he is very good at hiding it. He's such a tough little guy! He ate the new food this morning and we gave him Pepcid AC, so lets hope that this will do the trick. I guess we just have to keep trying new diets until we find one that works. I'll keep you all updated. Thanks again, you all are the best!! |

type dog food? I use Natural Balance and add fresh chicken, white meat only and cooked frozen veggies (peas/carrots, green beans) no fat in these. I boil boneless chicken breasts and freeze some and cut one up into little bits and add a teaspoon of chicken and veggies each feeding. It only takes a 1/2 hr. to boil and they are always in the freezer for him. I will stop buying peanut butter treats now that you mentioned it might have caused your baby to be sick. Good luck and give him a hug for me. |

If he has to have a low protein diet check about the chicken because it is protein. How about a vegetairan diet? I have seen dog food regarding this type of diet. The better brands carry these types. Again, good luck. |

How many times a day does he get fed? I read it would be better to break up the meals into several small meals. Supposed to be less stress on the body instead of 1 or 2 big meals. |
If you are open to Herbal remedies read on: Herbs “Emblica officinalis (Indian gooseberry) is a traditional Ayurvedic medicinal plant used to treat pancreatic disorders. It is the richest natural source of vitamin C. Animal studies further suggest that this herb can be used to prevent development of pancreatitis.” “Individual case reports suggest that traditional Chinese medicines are effective for the prevention and treatment of pancreatitis including the following which are also used commonly as both Western and Ayurvedic treatments of gastrointestinal disorders:” Licorice root (Glycyrrhiza glabra) Ginger root (Zingiber officinale) Asian ginseng (Panax ginseng), Peony root(Paeonia officinalis) Cinnamon Chinese bark (Cinnamomum verum) “Animal studies further suggest the value of using these herbs in combination along with the following herbs:” Bupleurum (Bupleri falcatum L) Pinelliae tuber (Pinelliae ternata) Chinese skullcap (Scutellariae baicalensis) Jujube (Zizyphi jujuba) “To determine the regimen for each individual, it is best to see a skilled herbalist or licensed and certified practitioner of traditional Chinese medicine, particularly because these herbs often work best in combination.” Here is a link to find a Certified Holistic Vet in your area: http://www.ahvma.org/ I hope he feels better real soon! He's got a great mom to help him through this! |

The new food may be okay. You hear good and bad about a lot of things here on YT. That's what makes it interesting. Considering the problems poor Zeus is having, I wouldn't make any changes without your vet's approval right now. It may just take a little more time for his little pancreas to heal and get more normal. Hugs to you and Zeus and will be thinking about you both!! |
