Stinky Ear?!? My little boy has had a foul odor coming from one of his ears for the past week or so. Just in the last couple of days he has started to scratch and then proceed to lick his foot afterward. When he is scratching, it doesn't seem he is in pain, nor is there any discharge of any kind I can see. Anyone know of anything I can do? I thought about putting a water and vinager mix in the ear and see if that helps.... Katie

Best thing to do is to take him to the vet to see if it's an ear infection or possibly ear mites. Both things can be stubborn to treat, so it's good to find out which it is and get started with the right meds. Give little bogie a hug from me......

In the meantime, you can gently clean it with a cotton swab and see if he has any discomfort. Then, see if the smell is there in a few hours or whatnot...

| Katie .. we vote seeing the vet for bogie too. It could be the beginning of an infection or simply needing the hair plucked from down in the ear. When you take him to the groomer, they are supposed to do that but sometimes they don't! We usually take Toto to the vet and have it done because it's painful and they just seem to do it better! Keep us posted ... hope it's nothing serious!

Yup vet is the best thing to do. When I got Adina she had a weird smell and vet said it was yeast. She is on meds and the smell is going away.
