| dry food causing dandruff??? OK so my baby girl Rylie was sick about 2 weeks ago, and the vet had put her on wet food, i believe it's called Prescription hill a/d it was one of those, anyway she was on that for about 6 days and i have never seen her coat looking for shiny and soft and silky, well the last few days that she was on that food i was to gradually start mixing in her normal dry food (Science Diet) well now she's only eating that, and i've noticed mainly yesturday that her fur isisn't as silky and that he is getting dandrufy fur again this was an issue before with her, but she never had any while she was on the wet food i was reading the ingideiants and it says that it contains "fish oil" now i've read a lot of posts here saying that salmon oil and all that stuff will help. So i'm wondering if maybe mixing her food with this stuff may keep her looking and feeling really soft. The only down site to her eating this food is that she always had a fishy smell to her poop and breath. but i want her fur soft and i don't want her to have dandruff. Does anyone have any suggestions? (FYI she is 3 months old still a baby)

Donating YT 14K Club Member | Many people like different type of food for their furbabies. The Grizzly Salmon Oil I've heard is wonderful for the coat. Also, pick a food that has the fatty omega-3 acid in it. l It's good for skin and coat. What type of shampoos are you using and how often are you bathing her. Environment can also play a factor as well.

| I took my puppy to the vet complaining of dandruff. The vet said it wasn't dandruff it was skin cells over producing and not sloughing properly. He didn't mention anything about diet and gave me a medicated shampoo called Sebolux (antiseborrheic keratoplastic) and after about 2 months of baths the "dandruff" disappeared and now he's a little over a year and has been "dandruff" free. I now use a regular shampoo. |
