| Eye infection I took my little Louie to the vet last week because he kept scrathcing his eye a lot and one of them was getting a little squinty. I was told he had conjunctivitis (otherwise knows as "pink eye"). I was given drops to administer and a day later there was still no improvement, I took my baby back and the vet said it looks like he has an eye ulcer, he said he may have scratched his cornea from rubbing his eyes so he prescribed an oinment to stop the pain. This morning my babay woke up and could not open his eyes...I freaked out, called the vet and took him in. Looks like his eyes are not producing tears...they are dry and swollen, I have an appt. with the eye specialist today at 4pm. Are eye infections common in yorkies?? What can I do to prevent them and has anyone else had this problem...I am sick to my stomach with worry...my poor baby is in such discomfort and there is nothing his mommy can do except try to get him treatment. I feel soooooo terrible right now.

| My Chewie had a "cherry eye" and had her tear gland taken out, so now I just put drops in her eye a couple of times a day, keep it clean, and she's fine. So, don't worry. And good luckk. |

| My Max developed an eye ulcer after the groomer cut his eye. It takes a long time to heal and it looks horrible. I was so worried but he is fine. Just make sure you put the medicine in as prescribed. With tlc, time and medicine it will be ok. |

| Thank you guys for your support, I feel a little bit better. I guess I won't know what's going on for sure until I take him to the specialist. Wish us luck!

| Drsfostersmith.com has eye drops and an ointment for dry eyes. The prices are very good. I use them when I bathe my pups. |
