what kind of food do you like for your yorkies? I was just wandering what kind of food everyone here likes for their yorkies? I haven't found one that I like yet. Any suggestions? :aimeeyork |
Both of my dogs really liked Royal Canin but I had to switch because Chachi has allergies and it was aggrivating them. I havent found one since that they like as well. |
When I got Nelly, she was on the Nutro Max. From there I moved her up to the Nutro Ultra, she hated all of it. I had my older dogs on Eagle Pack so I decided to switch Nelly to the puppy Eagle Pack. She absolutely loves it. I have never heard anyone else mention this food on yt before so I do not know if it is the best to have her on so right now until I hear some negative feedback on it that is what I will keep her on. It did give her a bit of loose bowel movements for a day or so but she is fine and it did not slow her down while she was going through it, I guess it just took her a while to switch. |
Royal Canin Puppy 33 mixed with Royal Canin Yorkie formula (I'm switching him over). He absolutely loves it. It's helped his skin flaking problem and now it doesn't really flake at all! YAY! :D Before that he was on Nutro Ultra and then Nutro Puppy lamb and rice. I thought it was drying his skin out so I made the switchero to RC. |

Max and Abbie liked Royal Canin Yorkshire but it gave Abbie stomach upset/diarrhea after a while. Now I give them California Natural Lamb meal and rice dry and they both LOVE it. |
We now use Royal Canin yorkie formula and my dog absolutely loves it. I think it's helping her skin and coat and you can just tell, it's as more premium food than what we were giving her before. |
:) Well my little Babe Girl was already on Eukanuba puppy before she arrived to me so I kept her on that she seems to be doing well with it. I am a first time mommy to a yorkie so I am still learning the basics as the days past. She will be 8 weeks on the 23rd of this month so if anyone has any suggestions i am always open for taking them in. Thanks :animal-pa :animal36 BaBe GiRl * MoMmy :) |
I feed a mix of Wellness & Innova & my dogs LOVE it! :D |
We feed Trixie Purina Pro-Plan...most of the time the "weight control" formula. Not neccessarily because she's overweight, but because there is a lower fat content in it, which IMO less crude fat is better overall. |
My girls get Nutro Lamb and Rice Small Bites, they love it!! It is great for Magic's sensitive stomach...we have tried several other more natural brands but Magic's stomach just couldn't handle them, so we are now back to Nutro and are defintely staying with it!! |
I like any of the good quality dog food. However my yorkie has other ideas, and she likes cheap dog food and people food. |
we're hooked! Everyone in our house like Royal Canin. We tried other products but, they devour it greedily. |
I have been feeding my girl royal canin for yorkies. My only problem with it is I can only get it in the City. (About 2hr. drive one way.) With all that is on my plate I just don't have time to go to the city to get the food. I have 4 kids and all are active in at least one extra activity. My youngest is home with me until 12:30 then she goes to school. I just don't have the time to drive there and back before the kids get home from school. Weekends are so crazy with soccor, basketball, t-ball, baseball, dance recitals, scouts, etc. I was thinking about changing her to something else. I feed Purina indoor formula to my cockers but that upsets the yorkies tummy. So far everything I've found around her either upsets her tummy or her skin gets so dry and flakey and not to mention it dries out her coat and makes her look so dull. What do you think? Should I just make the time and drive to the city after the royal canin? |
Hmm? I wonder is there a way to ship the royal canin to your home, or get your more local pet store to carry this product? |
I just switched Bailey from RC to Merrick Wet/Dry mix. He really enjoys it. I have a hard time finding Merrick's locally so I buy it online and they are having a huge sale. I just bought 15 lbs. of three different flavors of dry food and they each came with 6 cans free of wet so I got 18 cans total. My shipment arrived today. |
When you buy online do you have to have a cc? I don't have a cc or paypal. |
yes you have to have a debit card or CC. Some companies take electronic check but you have to go to their website to see what their payment options are. |

Val, I had my Golden on Eagle Pak but if you look at the lawn all you see are all these brown spots from where she pees. Do you have any problems like that from it? |
We started with eukanuba puppy and ended up with Nutro Lamb and Rice Small Bites... which snickers likes so much better and is better for her... good luck w/ur search on the right food for you! (well, for ur furbaby anyway lol) |
bunjee is currently on a mix of avoderm puppy and innova puppy. he'll be fully switched to avoderm in a couple weeks or so. he also get little sample packs of california natural and innova evo as treats. |
Tiger's base food is Innova dry puppy food . . .but I mix it with Innova health bar, beef liver 100% preservative free and a teaspoon of yogurt or cottage cheese for breakfast . . .early dinner si Innova with Merrick wet dog food. He always looks forward to his meals and cleans his plate like it was never used! He just started the Merrick wet and really loves it. |
Spike is on RC puppy. Gracie was on Nutro Natural Little bites and was getting fat. Switched to RC Yorkie- still fat. Nutro Natural Lite (dry)- only lost .5 lbs in a month and the vet wants her to lose 3. Now I'm doing Nutro Lite canned in the am and green beans mixed with a little dry at night. Seems to be working. |
My pus are on puppy purina one. When I brought my boston home he was on Timberwolf an all natural brand that I loved...but I was afraid that I woudln't be able to find it easily if we ever moved so I went with the puppy purina once Tank came home. That's what the breeder had him on and they both seem to like it and are doing well with it. |
We used to give our guys nutro and mix it with this yorkie food that I got from my vets, can't remember waht its called, but we now feed him "people food." That started after I read this book called "Smart Than You Think" Last night for dinner he had rice, mixed with steamed vegetables and pork. For breakfast/lunch today they will get eggs mixed with steamed veggies and rice. Basically they eat what we eat. James |
Tiggerwit, I guess I am pretty lucky, we only have rock in our backyard so I do not have to worry about the brown spots. Nelly was about a week switching to it, it made her poop a bit runny but now she is back to normal and loves it. |

I feed mine Merrick's wet food and I add boiled chicken breast or steak. We sometimes add cottage cheese to the mixture. She use to eat salmon too, but her stomach has become sensitive to it. She also has royal canine yorkie formula out all day too. We have tried everything imaginable for her and this seems to currently be working. She tries to eat anything human. She eats all kinds of veggies including carrots and asparagus. She loves pasta. People think she eats better than we do. |
We've gone through so many foods with Zeke! He eats one variety for awhile and then will suddenly stop eating it. He either really likes variety or really likes the UPS man (who brings the food that we order online) :p! What we're doing now is free feeding him Innova Puppy dry and in the morning/evening he gets 1/4 can of Innova Puppy wet. Innova wet/dry makes the perfect combo as it is very healthy AND we have a local supplier! Also, this combo has worked for over a month, far longer than any other combo we've come up with! |
