I was wondering how much should a puppy weight Myla went to the vet yesterday and she weights 2.10 pounds. I think she is to tiny. How much should a 4 1/2 month yorkie weight? |
My first yorkie weighed 4 pounds at 16 weeks, and she is a big girl now. (10 1/2 pounds) I also have a new puppy that is 16 weeks and she weighed 2.3 pounds at her vet appt on Saturday. I wanted a smaller (standard size) dog this time. My vet said that he didn't think I had to worry about her getting as big as Zoe'. Your puppy is probably going to be on the smaller side of what is standard 7 pounds or under. But I am like you I would be interested in what all of the others have to say, as mine and yours are about the same size it sounds like. Telea Zoe' and new baby Mia :aimeeyork |
I think Aggie'll get pretty big... She's 4 months and weighs 3.5lbs. |
Curious??? I was curious about this too...my Chloe who is 4 months. went to the vet yesterday and weighs 1lb 12 ounces...she's tiny...and when she came to me she weighed .98 ounces...and that was at the appropriate 3 months to come home with me...geeezzz, how big do you think she's gonna get, I'll love her no matter what. but was also wondering how big she'll get? I would say that your baby will be on the smaller side. Aren't they cuties!!! :D ~Tracy |
My 'nearly' 11 week old puppy is 3 pounds. |
Samson was 2.8lbs at 12 weeks and 3.7lbs at 16 weeks. At 8 months he was 4.8lbs and now that he is one year old I'm guessing he is about 6.5 or 7 lbs. Don't know if this helps but just gives you a point of reference. |
I think Myla will get into the 3 pound range. She is little, but I've seen dogs that weigh more that are still unhealthy - so health is more important than size. I know my vet said sometimes on the really little ones the skull (soft spot) does not close properly, but mine is just under 4 pounds and his closed properly and his knees are fine. He's almost a year now and is very healthy with a beautiful coat. He was 9 ounces at 8 weeks. |
You are probably right about the little ones soft spot not closing until later. Mine is still slightly open, the vet seems to think that it will go ahead and close up as it isn't as open as it was. He isn't that concerned at this point (16 weeks) because he feels like it will go ahead and close. Her legs are good also, she is just a little ball of energy. More so then my older one was at this age. Telea Zoe' and Mia |
To answer the question "How much should a 4 1/2 month Yorkie weigh?" there are several things to consider. Does she have a really small frame or is she larger and stockier? Is she so thin that her ribs show or so fat that her tummy bulges? So, there is no right answer for that question...as long as she is healthy and gaining weight she is probably not too thin... |

Puppy Size From reading other posts (absolutely no personal knowledge) it looks like we just have to wait & see. Little Bit was 13 oz. when I got her at 10 weeks (which I now know is too young) Then she weighed l.25 at 12 weeks, l.4# at 13 weeks and now at 14 weeks, she weighs 2#. By the way, the breeder told me she didn't think she'd be two pounds full grown. The vet also said by looking at her teeth, he wasn't sure she was as old as I was told. So I have no idea what size she will be. It looks like some of them just quit growing & others are just like the energizer bunny & just keep on growing & growing. I had had a Yorkie years ago that got to 10# and his ears never stood up so I paid a bundle for this one to try to be sure that wouldn't happen because once you get them if they turn out to be a Great Dane, you couldn't let them go. She may have grown so much last week because she had had coccidia and I think we are finally getting that straightened out. Who knows? Sorry to ramble so long. Donna:aimeeyork :aimeeyork |

what a cutie!!! |
weight My Chloe weighs 3.3-3.5lbs. I have one teeny tiny female for sale that is 5mo. old and only weighs 1lb even. I also have a tiny male maltese that I am selling that is 9mo and 2lbs. I am strick STRICK about these going to certain homes... so I have them longer. But most of the puppies I sell and keep in touch w/ appear to about double on avg their 12wk weight. It isn't always the case... but more than not. This tiny Yorkie was only .8lbs at 11wks.. so I am anxious to see if she gets bigger... she seems to have leveled off. I feed her high fat cottage chs. every morning or she wouldn't even be there. I am hoping to get her to 2lbs (fingers crossed!). |
