I FINALLY Got an Answer about Dog Food! Today I went to the only Pet store in my area that actually sells the "good" dog food. I already feed Baby Chicken Soup b/c this is the only thing I've found so far that she liked (she doesn't care for Nutro). Anyway, I went into the store and took a can of Wellness, Canidae, Innova and Merrick. I said to the guy, "Okay, I've been hearing a lot about these foods and how good they are. I feed my Yorkie Chicken Soup now, but I'd like to experiment with others. Seriously, which do you think is the best?" Well...I got an answer!!! He said, "Well, Chicken Soup is a good food, there's no denying that...BUT, I would have to say 100% that Merrick is the best and I'll tell you why. The others are like a paté (spelling?). With Merrick you can actually see every piece of chicken, potato, etc." He sure the heck was right! Baby gobbled up the wet Merrick's and the dry. She went for the Merrick's dry before the Chicken Soup!! So, I've decided I'm going to give her both since she likes them both. I'm so excited!!! :D |
really? I feed Zoe Wellness but I think I'm switching soon. So tell me if Merrick's good. DRY |

Now, I don't want you to think Wellness is bad. He didn't say that. He just recommended Merrick's. And I told him..."Yeah, that's all good. Merrick's can be the bestest dog food, but if Baby doesn't eat it, it's the worst!" But, she likes it, so I'm happy. |
I want to find soem of that so bad. Chachi and Jewels dont like their chicken soup. They will only eat cesars moist and thats not a real good food. I have heard so many good things about this food. I have one specialty pet supermarket that I am going to look for it tomorrow. |

I started Cali and Maya on the Merricks pot pie wet yesterday and they both ate it, which is a miracle. Cali has been the pickiest eater I have ever seen. I am still mixing it with chicken breast until I gradually switch then to all Merricks. I had tried the Mericks Puppy plate but it was a little too wet and bigger chunks of chicken, the pot pie is perfect. I am keeping my fingers crossed that I can get them both eating it full time. The pet store my nephew works at sells it and it comes in small cans, which I prefer, he said most people buy the pot pie. |

Awesome toledo is not to far from here.Thank you |
We actually tried to get some Merrick's about two months ago. We bought a bag, stuck it in our pantry unopened, went on vacation for three weeks, came home and found our pantry infested with moths. They came from the dog food. The bag was full of their webs. We went back to the store where we bought it, because we still wanted to try it. We watched as the store owner opened up bag after bag of it, and they were all infested. It was pretty gross. The rest of the food that he had stored around the Merrick's was all fine, though, so we think it must have come that way from the factory. Despite all that, we're still interested in trying it - have any of you who have ordered it online had any bags that were infested like that? |

Hello, I cook for my boy Royce, no way I will give him commercial food full of preservatives and all the junl . He eats chiken or meat mixed with vegetables and as treats carrots, fruits, cottage cheeese, yogurt, peanut butter . He drinks only Evian water . :aimeeyork |
Merrick's Food I have been singing the praises of Merrick's products on this site for the past couple of months. I use the Puppy Plate dry and wet and am also using the Grammy's Pot Pie dry and wet. I have bought a can of the Thanksgiving dinner but have not opened it yet. My dogs love Merrick's and I mix the two dry varieties with a little bit of dry Canadae. If you can buy it locally, do so, because online they charge @ $.30 more per large can than they do in the pet food stores. So, shipping is not exactly free. However, the quality of the product is worth it. Isn't it great to see them enjoying their food with gusto rather than having to coax them into eating??? |
Thanks for sharing..............food is such a hard thing to get.......it is all trail and error and in some places (like mine) you can't find a lot of different types of food either. That is on our list to try! |
Thanks to this post (and a few others!) I have just placed my first Merrick order! I went a little nuts with different kinds of treats and such, but we'll just hide the receipt from hubby for sure!!! And hide all the treats and just bring them out a few at a time:) I spend more on my 3 lb dog than I do myself! Anyway, I got the trial package of dry food and one of each of the wet, so we'll see how that goes. I also ordered wet cat food! Can't let the cats go feeling left out:) Anyway, I'm so excited to get it all! So far Cappi has been eating Science Diet dry and Caesars puupy wet. I thought I was feeding her the best! Thank goodness for this website which has shown me the error of my ways. I love McDonalds every now and then, but not everyday!!!:) Did anyone who ordered directly from the Merrick website sign up for the club thing? I of course did! They get me with stuff like that everytime. Those of you who ordered directly from the website...how long did it take for your order to arrive? Thanks! |
I feed Josie wellness right now, but this is the food I have been looking for! It has the real veggies in it that you can see. I have seen it before but I didn't know what it was called! Thank you so much! I ordered the trial 6 pack to see which ones she likes! |
OK I have to ask...... For all of you feeding Merrick's, How is the Poop? Compact? Less of it? Smell? I am big on the quality foods for this very reason. Crap food = loads of crap! Quality food = nice little compact poops that aren't overwhelming to the nose. I am thinking about adding a second food to change things up a bit.... So give me the scoop on the poop! |
I Finally Got an Answer About Dog Food As I have said in previous posts I feed Bogey and Gabe dry Merrick's Puppy Plate and Grammy's Pot Pie mixed with a bit of dry Canadae twice a day. For dinner they get rice, sometimes with cooked peas, and a couple of tablespoons of Merrick's wet food in the flavors mentioned above. The dry food is always left down for them. When first starting the Canadae I found they were having more poops than usual even though the consistency was fine. Since then I cut back on the amount of Canadae I add to the Merrick combination and everything is fine. They may have 2 or 3 poops per day with compact consistency and the odor is by no means overwhelming. They really seem to love the Canadae by itself also. |

I just found out that my favorite pet store (where I buy Tiger's Innova) does carry the wet Mericks in a can 13 oz. So I think I will get some to mix it with Tiger's Innova kibble puppy food. . . . . I like mixing different kinds of food for Tiger so he does not have the same meal all the time . . . I would be bored if I had the same food day after day after day so I want to make sure that my Tiger always looks forward to his meals specially prepared for by his mommy. They sell the cans for $1.98 each. Does that sound reasonable? I just love my pet store! |
