| I heard you're supposed to cut their nails every two months. But her nails have been hurting me when she gets on my lap. She was supposedly groomed about a week ago when i got her. And another problem is she's biting and licking herself throughout the day. It used to be worse before, but she still does this and it interferes when i try to play with her or train her. My vet took a look and said he didn't see any signs of dry skin and that maybe i should use a shampoo that was hypoallergenic. I did this, but nothing's really changed. I'm using bitter apple spray for her fur biting, hair chewing, and hot spots (if she has any). It's helped a little but i don't think that's really going to solve the problem in the long run. Could it be fleas? |

| I was having the same problem with Chase, it turned out it was fleas. I used Advantage for small breeds and the fleas are gone, but she continues to itch and bite. I check her everyday, I don't see anything. I have sprayed my house washed all her bedding gave her a flea bath and vacuumed thoroughly. She also licks herself alot. Any suggestions?

| Have you checked for allergies? she may be allergic to something that she's eating or even to the floor. I will be going to see the vet to check for fleas and if that's not it, it may be allergies and there will probably be testing to see what she's allergic to. hope u figure out what is wrong. i also hope her biting didn't become a habit from before. if that's the case, maybe you should use the apple bitter like i am. but ask your vet or get a second opinion, i just got her a week ago and she's my first, so i'm still learning! |

| 1. She may still have residue from groomer's shampoo and/or cologne spray. Wash her with a hypo shampoo. Be sure to completely rinse shampoo out. Follow it with hypo creme rinse. 2. If she has fleas you should see them if you look closely. Look in tummy, groin, and base of tail. 3. If you find fleas ask your vet if he would suggest a spot on defense against fleas. Hope this Helps.
