Please tell us what to do!! Toto is driving us crazy!! :( We resolved today .... absolutely no more Greenies!! It has been an after dinner ritual and so we got a prescription dental chew to try and if she ate it we will buy a bzillion tomorrow. It is called C.E.T. Chew and she loved it! Took her about 30 minutes to eat it! Good! We thought that would satisfy her .... no way!! For about an hour she has been softly crying .... first to me and then to Papa!! It's the most pathetic sound we have ever heard ... it's heartbreaking, painful sounding!! :( Patrick thinks the Greenies are addictive .... she loves them more than anything!! Anyone tried the C.E.T. Chew?? She's driving us crazy! She wants her Greenie!!! |
I threw away the last of my greenies yesterday. I had been weening them off of them for a week or so. Cali didn't really care, but my pom loved them and had one evryday. She still gets excited everytime I go into the cabinet where I kept them and then gets all sad when no greenie comes out. I haven't found a replacement yet but need to because the greenies also gave me a 30 minute break while they were busy chewing them. What are the CET like and are they 100 % digestable? Are they only available through a vet? |
I think I did read somewhere that Greenies do have something in them addictive...just can't remember where I read it. I know my gang loved them but after I read everything about them out they went. I like the C.E.T. also and I have been getting them through amazon.com, saved me a little $$$. Sorry your little one is crying but it is better to be safe than sorry. |
Cindy ... Thanks! I found them online but the site I looked at indicated a prescription. Can you get them without one? I always talk to her vet before I change anything in her diet, so I will discuss it with him but I figured they would be more expensive from the vet. The one I gave her tonight was given to me to try by one of the tech's at PetSmart. I went ahead and let her try it because I didn't want to wait to stop the Greenies. She really liked it .... THEN she wanted her Greenie!!! :) Patti .... it took Toto about 30 minutes to eat the C.E.T. Chew, the same time it took her to eat her Greenie. I couldn't find as much information to read as I wanted but am going to search some more tomorrow. From what I could tell they are 100% digestible and they are thin and about 1/2" wide and 4-5" long. I hope they can just be ordered online. I will let you all know what the vet says. |
http://www.amazon.com/gp/browse.html...Fencoding=UTF8 The first time I got them was at the vets also but you do not need a prescription. I just think Vets were carrying them to encourage people to use them for dental hygiene because they are good for their teeth. I just used the 1st page on Amazon but you can look to find the size you need. |
Thanks Cindy!! ;) |
You're welcome :) |
Ahia is acting the same way about her "chews". I was buying her the chew-eze from walmart. she is adicted to them too. I have started with a new one from the vets office called DENTEES (by DermaPet) it is an all natural treat for teeth & breath. the vet said they were new and she had not tried them on her dogs yet. (I am trying them out for her, ha ha). I can not give mine (especially Ahia) a whole one, I cut them into smaller pieces. She tends to gulp and it doesn't last long. I got a package of 12 for $11.00 at the vets office. They all like them and it is supposed to be better than the greenies because it is a bit more 'flakier' when they chew. I have not tried the C.E.T. |
pets-n-more this link was at thebottom of the page when i clicked on the link. when my sister got the C.E.T. chews from her vet they looked like rawhide to me just covered in enzymes that were supposed to help clean the teeth. and when her yorkie started chewing on it and i took it from him to look at it to see what it looked like after he chewed it... it looked as gunyn as rawhide does when it gets wet. and then he threw up later. |
Not yet, Tiggers vet has them in his office. But I never thought of getting them for him. I don't buy Tigger greenies only because they're only 85% digestible, and they have 52%protein which means if fed on a daily basis you must limit the amount of food intake to make up for the overdose of protein. I give Tigger Booda Cornstarch Bones and Bimples. He absolutely loves them. They don't do much for his breath though. But he doesn't have stinky breath anyway. They do make spearmint flavored bimples that I'm thinking of trying. I also give him Denta greens. He loves them and they only have 12%protein and they actually work. but he only gets them when mommy or daddy is around. |
off subject, but where can u see on the package where it tells digestible info? and if it doesn't what do u look for other than the word hide? |

My three have bones from beef shanks. I have the butcher cut the shanks about 1/2 to 3/4" thick and then I make some soup for the humans in the house so the furkids can have th bones. I have been doing this for years and years and have never ever had a dog even put a good tooth mark on one. Even Boo the Boxer will chew on them sometimes. I throw out the old and give them new ones each time I make a pot of good old beef vegetable soup. Anybody else? |

It doesn't say it on the package. If it did you wouldn't by it, or they would shed off the true digestibility of the product. I read it on another forum about the same topic. |
