| recommendations for dry Or moist food I have been feeding both my yorkies dry food and was wondering if I should be mixing it with moist? My older yorkie (tilly) was being feed moist but it made her fat, so I stoped giving it her. now that I have a new baby(3mo) he also only eats dry. I have been reading all the post in regards to dry vs moist mix or not to mix? so what do you recommend should I add moist food for sami(3mo) I know he needs protein but would it create a dependency with becoming picky about only eating moist after it is introduced? Or are they (puppies) supposed to have moist food as well? I recently got my baby and It has been awhile (10yrs) so I am a old/new beginner needing a refresher course here! thanks for any advice! |

| I would suggest sticking with the dry food if you possibly can. My breeder had Tia on half wet/half dry and now she is SO picky about the dry food, it drives me crazy. The dry is better for their teeth, I think

| Dont get me wrong ok, im only trying to help and talking out of experience.... do u and ur babies a favour and try to stay away from wet food if u can, it contains a lot of water, we give it to them coz we think they sure must get tired of the same dry food everyday and we like to spoil them and even do it without noticing it ourselves.... it so easy to spoil these little creatures, but be sure that when u feeding wet or even wet mixed with dry u r not doing ur baby a favour... after a while they will become picky and then u end up getting frustrated with feeding habits, its best to be firm and stick to a good quality dry food, its better to give them a big variaty of different treats. A friend of mine that is a breeder told me that its best for the dogs coats to change the dry food to another brand once a year. Good luck

| The dry food is better for their teeth. If your dog eats it I would consider yourself lucky and keep it on it. My dog won't eat the dry so I feed moist mixed with dry.

| I feed Archie both wet and dry. Lately, though, he's not eating the wet food at all...he only likes the dry food. I'm not sure why this is, but I've been limiting the wet to a couple of tablespoons. Has anyone experienced this? That they eat the dry food and ignore the wet food?! He also likes the dry food with a little bit of hot water, but I ALWAYS have plain dry food for him to munch on. |
