Vet Office Visit Fee We just took Athen to her first vet appointment (she got a good bill of health)! The vet charges a $41 office visit fee for the visit, every time. Does anyone else's vet charge a fee like that?? This is a different vet than the one I took Hercules to. His vet is farther away, but I wanted to keep with him while doing all the shots and everything. But I want both of them to go to one closer. Herc's vet did not charge anything like that. So, do you guys pay a fee for every visit on top of the shots and whatever else is being done??? Thanks! |
Yup! Our office visit fee is $35. It's pretty ridiculous but I haven't found any vets here that don't charge an office visit fee. |
Yup, our fee is $40 per visit. If I didn't love my vet so much, I would be looking for a new one. Actually, even though I do love my vet, I'm considering it. For their last check up it was over $300 for the two of them. I'm at least considering calling around to see if this was astronomical or the norm. |
Thanks for the responses. I was just really surprised by that, since the other vet did not charge it. I guess it would be worth going the 30 minutes to Herc's vet to not have to pay $41! |
Our vet visit fee here is $32. But for the recheck on a followup they charged $17. He got shots on the recheck and in 2weeks when he gets his last boosters I just found out that thankfully enough I wont pay a visit fee. He will not see the doctor, just a tech..for the shots which are $15. So no office fee there, I'm pretty impressed :) thats one way to keep people coming |
Try your humae society When I got my Max I too went to the vet for everything, in spite of the fortune that I spent he died. Then thorugh a neighbor, I found the Golden State Humane society on the same street that I live on. I take the boys there for routine visits and shots. There is a $12 charge for the vet visit, if it is a serious situation as it was when Benni got ahold of Ibuprofen and almost died, they referred me to a terrific animal hospital. I had both boys fixed there also and they did a terrific job and used Isofluane, the appropriate anestheitc and pain meds, total was $130 for both dogs, Benni had an undescended testicle. These vets were absolutely wonderful, and there prices are terrific. |
I pay $50 for a visit fee. Of course that's in CDN and I live downtown and the vet is a short walk so I guess I pay a premium for that too. |
I haven't seen where anyone elses vet is doing this but I paid $160.00. That includes all shots and vet charges. The examination fee if you are going in for some reason and not getting shots is $35.00. Does this sound high?? |
Luigi's vet visit is 45.00. Quite ridiculus!!!! But there are 8 vets there and they DID just build a brand new "state of the art building!!!!!" So of course we are the ones who have to pay for it!!!!! Insane if you ask me. But they are very good. When Luigi was sick and had to stay overnight, they needed a deposit of 620.00 and then needed to stay another night and it was another 300.00. Even after all that, there really wasn't anything medically wrong with him. DID EVERY TEST IMAGINABLE. They said he has a very sensitive tummy!!!!  I must be crazy to pay that!!!! He goes in 1 1/2 week to get nutered, and that starts at 150.00!!!! So we'll see how much it ends up being. Also getting teeth cleaned and some pulled!!!!  |
Dr. Wiggins charges $35.00 for a visit. However he normally doesn't charge me for the visit any longer. I have been seeing him for so many years that he is now waiving the visit fee. |
Gee I am likin the fact we live in the middle of nowhere Michigan....our vet is $12.00 for an office call...... |
Wow!!!!! Thats high! I didn't realize whats being charged elsewhere. I am in Indiana and its a small vet office so that makes a difference also. If my dog ever needs emergency care he would have to also go to emergency facility. I would imagine the price for that is much higher. |
Millecorrales You go to Golden State Humane Society? Do you live in So. California, the one on Artesia? If so, I want to talk to you, I go to that one too if it's the same one. Please respond to this post. |
Wow, I didn't realize that everyone pays an office fee. I guess I was lucky that the vet I was taking Hercules to was not. I'll probably start taking Athena to him then! |
Fees Our local vet charges between $31 and $41 depending on if shots are given or medication is given. So far there have been no additional fees for tests. It is first come, first serve.....but once it is your turn he is wonderful - always gives you lots of time for questions/concerns - and you never feel rushed. We really love him! But if you have an after hour emergency....well, that clinic charges for every procedure/test/shot/medication and that is on top of a after hours fee of $70.....so you look at a bill of about $150 and up......the last time the medication alone was over $30 dollars. |
