| Cold enough for a shirt? Hubster does not believe that Bon Bon ever needs to wear a shirt. I like for Bon Bon to wear one when the outside air temperature is 60 degrees or cooler. We have tile floors and he is allowed to go outside frequently, but never for extended periods or unsupervised. Some of his shirts are lighter and some are definitely snuggly warm. Bon Bon tips the scales at 4.5 pounds. What are your thoughts on this? Am I overprotective? |

| Absolutely this baby needs a shirt or sweater!!!!!! Maintaining body temp of one this small isn't easy.

| Gidget never goes out without a shirt and definitely a light weight sweater when the temp is in the low 60's. I have heavier sweaters for her when the temps go down into the 30's and 40's. These little guys don't have built in heaters. |

| My dogs wear nightgowns at night and clothes during the day unless we are going out to a pet event or something when it’s warm out. My boys get cold in the ac too. Lately when it’s been in the high 80s everyone goes naked. Yorkies don’t have under coats so they get cold easier.

| If you see him shivering at all or showing signs of being cold, then sure. But otherwise, I don't see a need for clothes inside the house especially during the summer or in extreme temps.

| Gidget and I have a routine at our house. She waits for her night shirt to be put on at night and she's very patient because she knows a treat follows. In the morning the night shirt comes off, a shirt or tee are donned (depending on the weather) and she knows we're ready for the day. She loves routine and almost seems to get upset if it's changed in any way. |

| Agreed! I dress my pups only if it's really cold. For the most part, he's nekked!!!

| Assuming you have normal responses to temperature changes, a good rule of thumb from both this forum and my vet is: "If it's cold enough for a sweater/jacket for you, your Yorkie needs one too. Gauge your pupster's needs on what you would do for yourself." |
