| Yorkie/poodle wont eat kibble? Hello everyone! My dog has started to develop a habit of avoiding his kibble. When I realized this I tried mixing wet food with his dry kibble to give it a different taste and hopefully get him eating it again. He was doing alright with it until all of a sudden he started to avoid the kibble and eat only the wet food around just spill the kibble on the mat. I'm not really sure what to do at this point and i've read up that it might be a medical issue but he seems very healthy. Could someone help me out? Thanks! |

Welcome to YorkieTalk. Sorry you have to worry about this, but it is smart to be on top of dietary nuances. If he hasn't seen had a dental check recently, I'd have the vet do a good check of his teeth and gums to make sure he's not trying to avoid pain. Were their other medical issues you have been concerned about? It is possible that he finds more flavor in the wet food. When my sweet senior was just a pup, she decided she preferred baked chicken breast to any kind of kibble. After a dental, my vet picked a kibble he wanted her to eat. It took some time, but under his "just a call away" supervision, I fed her the kibble he picked on a time-limited schedule. It took a day or so, but she became a kibble eater once again. As an aside, Katy preferred her kibble be served on a plate (rather than a bowl). Thank you for lovin' your little one. --KatysMom | |

| This has happened to me! All of a sudden, Gracie went 2 days and only ate a small handful. I was getting worried so started giving her wet food and she loves it. We go back to vet in a week or two so I'm going to discuss with them. But for now, I'm feeding the wet and offering the kibble...........which she doesn't touch. Shes 5 1/2 months. |
