| Premade raw, fat content & pancreatitis Hello all! I've been debating starting my baby on frozen premade raw because I have read and heard various benefits such as clearing up allergy issues etc. But my concern is I have heard that yorkies are prone to pancreatitis and therefore high fat diet's are not good for them. I have read some articles that say raw is good to combat this issue but I have read other articles that say such food should be avoided for dogs prone to this issue. I basically feel like I'm going to go crazy reading all of the conflicting advice and I would like to make a decision soon. All of her itching and scratching and occasional wet poop drives me crazy and I just want her to be healthy and happy. I'd appreciate hearing from those who feed premade raw and those who have some knowledge on the fat content and pancreas issue. Thank you! |

| Raw doesn’t just fix issues necessarily and it has many scary risks and side effects. I would put her on an allergy medicine from the vet. Most allergies are environmental not food so changing food wouldn’t do anything anyway.

| Both my yorkie and toy poodle have eaten Primal frozen raw for the past 3 or 4 years. My yorkie does have some food sensitivities but also IBD, so it's surprising raw works well for him, but he has literally thrived on this food. Its not for everybody but it does work well for my little guy. Diana |

| Yes, it surprised me too. We did so many food trials and nothing worked but he is definitely thriving on the Primal. |

| Freeze dried stuff is higher in fat, I believe.

| Thank you for all of your replies! I actually have taken her to the vet and they told me to start giving her Benadryl which I've noticed Little difference on. Around the same time I also started her on a joint supplement , Dasuquin, and shortly after all this is when is her poop was wet and softer than normal. I stopped both the Benadryl and the Dasuquin to see if either of those were causing the poop issue. I suppose once we get the poop back to normal I'm going to submit a fecal sample tomorrow to the vet, I will return to the whole what food is best to feed issue. These little babies have so many little issues! And I'm a worry wart!!! Lol |

| Clearly not. Once I get the results back from the fecal sample I will return to the allergy issue and look into the prescription options that the vet recommends although I was hoping to avoid them there may be no choice. She seems a bit better though with the scratching |
