| Feeding success? So I decided to give my maggie a big spoonfull of this turkey & duck stew by wellness. She didn't even take a minute to gobble it all up. So I have found what she likes. She took half an hour to eat the science diet can and we're still at 1 can. I feel like discontinuing the feeding of science diet since she does not like it. My guess however is that she likes stews. I have been thinking of feeding in a rotation schedule of wellness stews, in cans. Is it okay to once she is fully accustomed to turkey and duck formula to do a daily rotation of one day turduck , and another day beef and venison. Same brand, same type of food. She gets bored of feedings. I would like to stick to that, as she licked the bowl clean and has been licking it for a few minutes. Also on another note. You guys ever by chance stumble onto a dog similar to yours and just feel heartbroken they haven't been adopted? I saw a maggie look alike and I just wish I could give it a home. I am not sure if people can have 3 dogs. I am getting new job soon so probably not a good idea. plus I want to leash train maggie fully. She's been doing better but not quite were i want her. |

Yeah I thought of it this way, the alternative to feeding that is even more expensive home cooked meals. I hope her stomach can handle the rotation, because I felt like a terrible human being knowing sasha can only eat limited things because her stomach is sensitive... I think of it this way, I would not want to be forced to eat something I hate or the same thing day in and out, so some variety would leave my mind at ease that I at the end of the day, I did my best to do her right. Clearly, she had a previously ruff life, so I felt even worse not trying to give her a higher quality of life to make up for those possibly dark times behind her. As I educate myself more, I will continue to improve her life. For example, she is okay with her current bed, but might need a bed she can stretch her legs out and is orthopedic because sometimes she prefers to sleep on my pants(I leave a worn pair of old pants for familiarity as I know dogs like that). Sooo yeah. Maybe some day she will improve in car travels and we could go to places together without her literally pukimg 5 times... Also I read somewhere that there's some thing you give to your dog to help digestion for when you are changing diets. If she likes either the beef or venison one then I will make sure to add either of those to the duck canned food. Lastly, is it okay to give dogs something they can chew on for hours that wont hurt them? She really likes to chew. I still remember she loved chewing bones, but I remember the problems with bones. P.s. if maggie look alike is still there a few weeks after I get said new employment, or so then I would get her. Only if I had more than enough for all of her vaccines. I think maggie is almost due for her distemper. Last edited by FlyingNimbus; 06-24-2018 at 07:22 PM. | |
