| Mia is 7 and about 12 lbs. She wasn't eating her dry kibble very well so I started adding about a large Tbls can food to a 1/4 cup kibble twice a day. My wife thinks I'm giving her to much any suggestions. |

Dog loosing weight is a very slow process not like humans where loosing 5 lbs in a week is good, its NOT good or healthy for dogs to loose weight fast. At 12 lbs is that a good weight for Mia, she shouldn't be fat. A dog should have an hour glass figure, to see if she does, look down at her, she should have a waist. I have attached a graft showing what is over weight, under weigt and correct weight for all dogs. If Mia looks like she has gained weight or to keep her at the same weight, take out some kibble to make up for the added wet food. Before you start this first weigh her, then start removing 10 kibbles from the 1/4 cup. After one month weigh her. Baby scales are not expensive, they are very accurate, losing just one once a month matters, remember loosing weight is a SLOW process so don't get discouraged if you see se asn't lot a lot in a month. If my pup who is now 13 years old gets an extra treat, I take a few kibbles out of his evening food. I am very strick about his weight. I hope the graft helps and do buy a baby scale. I am having issues uploading the graft, I will send it seperatly
